Does anyone know the protocol for having a toot... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone know the protocol for having a tooth extraction? Im in agony and need to get it done.
When I had a tooth out the information leaflet I got said to avoid certain foods - I think it was not to eat hard food or drink hot drinks but I can't remember it all now, it also said to rest (no problem with that) and also to take vitamin C which would help with the healing, I got Redoxon 1000mcg slow release with zinc and they are really good - very expensive but good.
Then when I started on Carbimazole my pharmacist told me to take vitamin C along with it, I was already taking it because if the tooth so I just carried on.
Your surgery ought to give you an information leaflet on aftercare, just do exactly what it says.
I was dreading having the tooth out and had put it off for ages, in the end it was no problem, it was quick and I had no pain at the time or afterwards, but I did exactly what they told me to do, and my other teeth have not shifted at all - which was my big worry. Good luck
I had this done a couple of weeks ago for a tooth that was infected. My holistic dentist was extremely gentle.
He gave a sheet with instructions and I followed these to the letter. I had to rinse with salt water after every meal and ended up doing this for 7 days. I did however feel quite 'out of sorts' for a week so just had quiet days. Socket has since been checked and all is OK.
I didn't take my T3 at lunchtime though as appointment was 2.00 pm. Am taking high dose vitamin C anyway.
Good luck!
My dentist keeps for me an anaesthetic called Citanest/Octapressin as I don't have the awful reaction I have with the usual ones.
A link:-
Citanest is an adrenaline free local, lots of people have it. We used it routinely on anyone with medical issues.
