So when I saw my NHS endo a few weeks back for the first time she sent me away with a load of blood tests to get done....off I went and we agreed to have a telephone appointment.
She called me last Tuesday and said my results are all fine and nothing can be done at the moment? (tiredness, fatigue, hair loss, hair thinning, forgetfulness, slow, ache and pains, and the rest)
8 years on levo and still nothing...I thought i'll get her to post my results to add to my blood test collections
Just opened them and peolpe put on your thinking hats because i'm confused:
B12 306 (191-663)
TSH 0.94 (0.27-4.20)
FT4 22.5 (12.0-22.0) *
Cortisol at 10am 698nmol/l (9am 171-536) *
TPO 209IU/ml (0-34) * POSITIVE
*So I'm on 125mcg Levo. My T4 is usually always in range for the past 8 years for the first times it reached 22. It has usually been 12-16.
Why is my TSH still almost 1 even though I have a high T4?
*What worries me is the cortisol and THE TPO ANTIBODIES! damn they are high!
my endo didn't say anything regards these and said they were fine. Would this indicate hashimotos?
She forgot to add the T3 but said she is doing it. All other tests are fine.
WHAT DO I DO FROM HERE BECAUSE THESE SYMPTOMS ARE BAD!

What you do is write her a letter, which I am always doing with my endo, stating your concern regarding your high cortisol and your high FT4 levels.
With the cortisol I would be asking her if she thinks futher investigations are approprite as you are concerned about the high result.
A high cortisole level can be as simple as an infection or can be high due to the use of birth control pills so I wouldn't be driving myself mad with worry if I were you - just make sure your endo investigates it further.
I would then ask her for her opinion on why your FT4 result has increased all of a sudden and what should be done about it making sure you dont demand anything but gently suggest.
I would defintely but a c.c. at the bottom and my own GP's name (which means you have also sent a copy of the letter to your own GP, that way it is on record and she cannot ignore it)
In the meantime I would be booking an appt with my GP to talk these results over with him/her.
Your high anti body results means that you have hash's - as a lot of us do on here.
Its hard to say why your tsh is still almost one without your FT3 result but at a guess I would say you could possible have a conversion problem. In other words your T4 is going nowhere but lets wait and see if this is correct when you get your FT3 result as if this is low then I could be right.
It looks to me like your symptoms could be adrenal, plus your B12 could be higher, so you need to push your endo into doing something about it, as it looks to me like she tends to ignore it.
I'm new to the adrenal side of things...i've read up and i do have a lot of the adrenal symptoms and mostly those which fall under 'adrenal fatigue.'
I did face some stress for extended periods so this could be a contributor. Nevertheless, the hypo has been there for 8 years and more serious symptoms for 4 years and unable to carry out my normal routine for about 5 months.
So what treatments are available for adrenal problems and what should I do?
Can I just add that your B12 is quite low -The pernicious Anemia Society would like the rule to be changes so that anything under 500 is suspicious.Currently you have to fall under 170!!!
B12 is important as it helps with the uptake of thyroid hormones -so one issue could be that you are not absorbing your thyroid hormones as well -this is why the T4 is high in the range.
I would suggest that you get an Active B12 blood test done -this measure how much B12 you are really using as opposed to what is in your blood stream. Low b12 is common in hypothyroidism. You will have to pay for this test am afraid -I very much doubt your endo will do it. The Active b12 test has not been out that long. For further info I would look on the Pernicious Anemia society's website which has great info. May symptoms of low B12 are similar to hypothyroidism -later stages of it you get tingling and reduced sensation in your limbs which is different.
