Can't reply to T3sortedme. Also where can I get blood tests done for Ferritin, Iron etc? Also FT3?

I am on T4 only and although I have tried inc. these myself I still feel ill, so I think I am not converting to T3 or have too much RT3 as my bloods show T3 in lower range.

Thank you

You can look on the main Thyroid UK site, here:

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Some tests, such as the ones offered by the Home Blood Tests arm of Blue Horizon, can be performed on fingerprick samples which can be more convenient. But that is not true for all tests.

Everdean, sorry you could not contact me. Not sure how I can help. Test details are on this site; not something I know much about. Certainly the T4/T3 combination did not work for me. It does for most people. I really had to push to get on T3 only but it worked very quickly once I did. GP then have me free reign to develop my own programme (amounts of T3 and timing). Problem is that we are all different and you will have different body chemistry to me, so no guarantee that what worked for me will work for you. It's a matter of persuading the GP to let you try something that he feels is safe for you. Increasing T3 and reducing T4 over time is an option. Then just T3 for a while. Ask CarolynB, an administrator, for her view. She has done both combo and pure T3 and has more varied and valuable experience than me. There is an issue of cost for GP's which patient centred ones ignore but profit centred ones are very aware of!

Paul Robinson's book "Recovering with T3' (from Amazon) has really valuable advice on the subject. I suggest it is well worth you reading as it will arm you with information for seeing the GP and give you confidence about what you're looking for. It will also make you aware of all the other issues that impinge on the use of T3 and getting ourselves well.

Help please,

I have graves so i'm on 175 of thyroxin, My consultant has agreed to put me on a low dose of T3 10ug at my request & lower the dose of levothyroxine to 150.

Could someone kindly tell me what Ferritin & FT3 is & should I be tested for this ?

Having fibro myalgia & my foggie old head is having trouble absorbing all this knowledge, no matter how much I read i cant make head way of it all.

I'm so desperate like many others to get some results. Jillymo X
