Best thing for us to do is to keep complaining to Drs/Endos/etc to carry out tests we know we need! We add FT3 TPO etc on our blood forms!

My GP rang me earlier regarding messages I sent online. He said come for face to face appointment tomorrow to go through Blue Horizon blood results and to see the Nurse for a B12 injection...Just shocked because they don't know my B12 results yet. With such a low B12 you should be tested for Pernicious Anemia before taking any supplements or having injections. And, if you do have PA, you would need B12 injections for life.

Thank you greygoose. I have done a bit or research on low B12 and apparently should be tested for MMA and IF Intrinsic Factor to find out if my gut can absorb VitB12. I will ask this afternoon when I see GP. I will not have the B12 injection today until I have had other checks as supplementing with B Complex may help sort it. Doubt he'll be happy when I refuse injection but after all he doesn't have any blood results yet for B12 as surgery has never tested for it or ferritin

But, stop the B complex now, or you will skew the results. That was my point.

I haven't taken B Complex since Sunday. I rang Endo Secretary this Morning for my results from Blood test on Tuesday...

She simply said 'VitD 63.4, T3 3.8, T4 12.4, TSH 4.75 and said VitB12 and Ferritin are normal but she didn't have results for them, nor did she have reference ranges for any.....I asked for a copy of results and she said I'll receive them in a couple of days when they've been signed off!

I suppose, because they always use the same lab, they don't realise that ranges differ from lab to lab, and need to be included. Letters from endos rarely include ranges. They just don't live on the same planet as us. However, your FT3 looks as if it could be right at the bottom of the range, which is far to low, and whilst TSH is probably only just over-range, it's high enough to indicate hypothyroidism to anyone who knows anything about thyroid. Unfortunately, endos rarely fall in that category.

'Normal' is pretty meaningless. It just means 'in-range'. But, when you see the width of the range, you understand that it cannot possibly be 'normal' all the way through. You will feel completely different with a result at the bottom of the range, to how you feel with a result at the top.

TSH is only slightly higher from same lab as Weds 13/5...T3 and T4 are same as last Tues 13/5.

This Morning I upped my dose and took 25mcg levo, then tomorrow 50mcg. Sorry meaning 50mcg one day and 25mcg the next which means I will be taking an extra 75mcg weekly than I have done for a very long period of time.

I only usually take 50mcg every other day as advised by Endo because of intolerance.... I will need testing in 6 weeks to find out if that makes a difference. I'll need to up the dose very gradually. Not sure best way to do that but I have time to find out ....Thanks for reply. Always much appreciated :-)

You certainly haven’t got enough thyroid hormones or meds so definitely need to increase them and several vitamins etc. You must be feeling unwell?!

You may need a different brand? They have different fillers and you may be intolerant to the current one/s.

Hi Musicmonkey

I've tried Teva Eltroxin (Mercury Pharma), Wockhardt, Tirosint....Am on Actavis. Did you have to change brands at all or which brand do you take.

My Endo said I'm allergic to fillers but they all have them as do vitamins and minersls

Poor you :( That's not great.

I don't take much T4 now, but stick to Wockhardt. I believe some people don't do well on any T4.
