Meds upped to 100mcg of Levo, but feeling slightly "woolly" all the time now, when previously on 50/75mcg I felt much sharper.

diagnosed in Feb this year. Latest blood tests showed TSH at 13.42 (0.3-4.0) down from 23 and T4 at 12 (10.5-24.5). I asked for T3 to be tested (a new doctor) and was told AGAIN that this test wasn't necessary. I'm going to demand a test next time!

Also as a side question and sorry if it is a bit gross, but here goes - after any kind of exercise, I sweat absolute buckets - even gentle boogying leaves me looking like I've had a bucket of water thrown over me! I consider myself to be pretty fit - go to gym regularly, power walk, cycling etc, so am really puzzled about the sweat situation. Could this be a metabolism/thyroid issue? All comments gratefully received!

My chemist told me if I started sweating like that it usually means your dose is too high. Do you sweat just sitting? If your working out that is different, but if you are just at rest and sweating, you should probably call your doc and tell him about that. Sounds like you were at a good level before.

Hi Jenny, As regards the Free T3 test, yes ,it is essential. However, many NHS Labs are no longer allowed to do it, basically down to costs. I have my TSH, T4 and Free T3 tests done on line now. You are quite right bout the FT3 it is essential. It lowers the TSH , helps metabolism etc. it sounds as if your T4 may be a little high ( best in top third of range)FT3 sounds low, needs normally to be near the top of range ( never over)It does take a while to get the drugs right with frequent retests. Always ask the receptionist for a copy + essential ranges, keep as you have but always when the blood drawn ask what they are doing, legal requirement if you ask , as you can refuse a certain test, if not beneficial in your view. I do! .Although very common , they are very powerful drugs.

I hope that helps,

Best wishes,

Jackie

thanks for your replies - I will continue to pursue the elusive T3 test - if necessary I'll get one done privately.
