How are you feeling? If you are feeling well then it is ok to stay on this dose. If you are still feeling hypothyroid, you may need an increase. 75mcg is still quite a low dose. With a TSH of over 3 (which is still considered too high in some countries) there is plenty of room for an increase in dose if you need it. We each have our own very narrow range of TSH values that is considered normal for us. Also, once on thyroid replacement, the TSH test becomes spurious at best. This has recently been shown to be true in various studies. TSH is fine as a general guide for diagnosis but should be used in conjunction with T4 and ideally T3. Increases now that you are in the 'normal' range will only be 25mcg each time and shouldn't be increased more frequently than every 6 weeks as it can take this long to have the full effect.
I also notice that, although in range, your folate and vitamin B12 are rather low. In other countries, Japan being one, the bottom of the range is much higher than the NHS ranges. In Japan it is the equivalent of 405 in our usual units. Many neurologists say that it should be above 500 for good health. Lower than optimal B12 could be contributing to any symptoms you may be experiencing once on optimal dose of levothyroxine. Many people feel better with a folate level nearer to 12. If you supplement with folic acid you should also supplement with B12 as the B12 is needed to turn the biproduct of folic acid into an essential amino acid, methionine.

hi carolyn thanks for that , as you can read am feeling great but am on to it over b12 etc , i have been trying to read everything about whats happen to me because of this site, thank you all so much it good not to feel so alone with this X
That is great Your TSH may come down a little more over the weeks but that is nothing to be alarmed about, just normal. It can take a while for it to fully react to being on the correct dose. If it doesn't come down, that doesn't matter either as long as you are still feeling well. TSH is a very accurate test for measuring how much TSH is in your blood, but very inaccurate for telling what your thyroid status is.
Your pins and needles may be due to a lack of B12 so hopefully supplementing will help The B12 test is also wildly inaccurate, as those in the know will tell you, which is why the low bottom or the range is such a problem.
I am very pleased you are feeling so much better. Long may it continue!
thank you so much, i do hope your not to poorly. i think i will buy some supplements to be on the safe side , should i get multi vitamin or just b12 and iron ? am at the hospital on the 28 aug about the lump across neck , so i will be have bloods done so will let you no X
hi just been chemist and got b12 6.99 for 50 tablets for vegan so took one and lets see, but am not happy got levothyroxine am on 75 a day and the make was mercury pharma . ive now been given 25 make WOCKHARDT and 50 make F. phoned to ask can i have same make as before to be told ,sorry haven't got that one but take what i been given and it will be ok , but if not happy then she will get the other make in for me , will it be ok ? .
I've had both mercury and Wockhardt 25s - think I feel ok on both. Got Wockhardt from the hospital pharmacy last time, mercury from my local pharmacy.
I get my B12 from Amazon, I take Jarrows, Methylcobalamin, they are sublingual, taste of cherries and are the 5000 mcg ones. 60 to a bottle, they seem to come from the US but the service is quite fast.
Oh thanks for that, I haven't heard of them. I'll need more B12 in a while but I need CoQ10 soon and H & B haven't got them on offer this month which is a pain. I'll have a look on that site.
angel thanks for that, but not sure if am cut out for b12 been up all night with hot flushes and neck feeling very tight. at hospital next week so think i will just go back to taking lev until then, feeling sick , x but thank you
Sorry you are feeling rough, good that your next hospital visit isn't too far away. Probably better to lay off everything else until then. Have you ever had your B12 checked? I know mine is in the range (ha, ha that never fails to make me laugh) but it is only just in the range so there is room for more. Hope you feel better soon,
Sorry again, I have just answered my own question yes you have and your result is about as low as mine was. Blame the brain fog. Still dopey after it has officially gone.
hi all , sorry for being so down yesterday ,do hope everyone well as can be, am over yesterday pain in neck not to bad and heartburn has gone today, just before i came very poorly with this the heartburn was very bad for a few days,so my question is this do we all experience heartburn ? thanks .
