Hi I've suffered with ibs for years, mainly wind and bloating, which has got considerably worse over the last few months. I've tried everything from probiotics, colonic, fodmap diet etc
I'm at my wits end, it's effecting me daily and I'm struggling to go to work due to the wind.
I'm not sure if my breakfast of crumpets I'd making this worse so I'm going to change, does anyone any ideas on this and what do people have for breakfast that does not cause wind or constipation please
Or any ideas on how to reduce wind please

I ended up in an out of hours GP with suspected appendix issues, but it turned out to be trapped wind. GP recommended Holland & Barratt Charcoal Tablets. Worked a treat, over the week they sucked up all the gas.
I tend to take six at night and by morning it's cleared the issue.
I've tried other charcoal from say boots and found them to not work so I would suggest H&B, there was clearly a reason GP recommended those.
So this doesnt cure the issue but helps with the symptoms. I'd still recommend exploring and finding out what's causing the gas.
hi. I had a very similar problem - dreadful wind and bloating until- I gave up all dairy products - it’s all been so much better since. I was already using lactose free stuff but it wasn’t just that but the actual milk proteins. Worth trying for 2 weeks to see if it helps you too.
Interesting. My son as a new born was intolerant to diary protein. Good news is there is a chart/programme for reintroducing slowly and building tolerance again. Worked for my son, no idea if it works for adults.
Not sure if you've tried Alflorex probiotic which has been studied for IBS? My system is more settled with it, I am more tolerant to a wider range of foods and it helps to suppress gas forming bacteria without generating gas itself, plus it helps to digest complex carbs.
I used to have the same problem when my gut flared but I have found taking peppermint oil capsules 1, 4 times a day significantly helps. Don't get me wrong, I still get episodes of crippling cramps when I flare but I'm finding that I seem to be flaring less often. It used to be either all week at worst or 2 - 3 bouts each week. My gp restarted the mebeverine 3 times a day which I took for several weeks, then, in an attempt to reduce the medication I turned to the "old fashioned" use of peppermint. I am gradually reducing the amount of meberine but then have to juggle with the dosage when things do flare.Other, natural remedies that could help are turmeric and black pepper which are good for inflammation.
