every day, painful, plentiful & offensive. Had ibs for about 40 years but much worse post-menopause. No rhyme or reason food wise. Any tips on how NOT to get wind in the first place would be very gratefully received π

Hi there ,I also get the pain everyday wakes me up and have it on and off all day Sorry don't really have any tips apart from watch what you eat as it could be something your eating
The low fodmap diet helped me immensely . I have to closely followed recommended portion sizes and raw veggies are a definite no no. I have been working with a nutritionist and she has been a great help. I am having a SIBO breath test this week because when I tried to reintroduce food groups I failed most of them. I had a hysterectomy last year and also have had ibs forever but it became much worse after the hysterectomy. I just finished reading the SIBO book by pimental and it made a lot of sense. good luck to you
Hi winston
I didn't get IBS symptoms until after my menopause. I had a good 18 maths of it before being diagnosed with womb cancer. I certainly haven't come on here to frighten anyone but have to highlight the fact that so many women are diagnosed with IBS and sent on their way by their GP.
Women need to know that a lot of symptoms of womb or ovarian cancer can present with IBS.
What I'm trying to say is take control of your lives
bloating for no unexplained reason
Feeling full
Changes In bladder
IBS symptoms
These are very important changes to get checked out. Most of the time it is simply IBS but felt the need to share this with you.
@flanimals123 Sorry to hear that ..hope you are healed now and feeling better ..may i ask what are the main symptoms of womb/ovarian cancer that are are considered a red flag and needs an urgent visit to my doctor other than ibs symptoms ?? i'm asking because for the last 3 months i'v been having my period twice in a month inaddition to my usual IBS, any advice is greatly appreciated πΉ
Have you had it checked out with the Doctor, I have colitis which causes bloating and certain foods do not agree with me. But went and had tests at the hospital to find out exactly what it was. Just have to watch my diet. Best of luck Penny
thank you so much for posting everyone, isn't it good to have somewhere to go to discuss all this with people who understand! flanimals - that's a very good point, pain can present as something debilitating but not life-threatening like ibs and mask more serious illness. I hope you are getting all the treatment & support you need. As echoed by others here, you have to be pretty persistent with doctors. I think I've tried everything over the years including the fodmap diet but nothing works - my Dr. Says its definitely stress so I had some very expensive therepy which worked for a while but now the wind is a real problem. The quest continues, thank you all so much for responding, good luck & I hope you find relief, respite & cure x
Mine turned out to be coeliac- but there are so many possibilities!
Just need to get the right gp who is prepared to order the tests to find out if the problem is potentially serious for you.
I get this every day to the point im doubled over at my office desk. Only seems to happen when ive been eating loads at work. I avoid eating but that isnt always possible! I remeber When i went on holiday to indonesia we had ginger and lemongrass tea everyday (with macaroons mmmm) . Usually, especially with the amount if food we ate id be getting awful tummy pains but i never got a single problem while i was over there . Im convinced it was this tea that helped! Though i cant say the same for the plane journey home
