Hi

Today was an ok day when I woke up after my first full nights sleep in 3 weeks. I managed to pass lost of wind which was so good, and left me pain free all day until after tea.

Now might be my own fault because before breakfast and lunch I took my peppermint caps. like I said been ok throughout the day, I even went out for a brew with a friend. Came home had jacket potato with prawns for tea and when I was nearly done I thought I forgot to take tablets before I eat. 😆

I took it straight away but now the trapped wind is back, stomach looks like am pregnant and is very uncomfortable.

Since this flare up I have completely changed my diet and what fluids I take, am craving a big fat cream cake but am scared to eat anything tasty incase it makes me so bad again ☹️

Is trapped wind at night a common thing for others ?

Yes I to have wind at night. Really bad the other night. But them I'm pretty immobile due to arthritis, I find trying to keep to what my Dr told me years ago, is never eat anything after 7pm and drink water before retiring. Exersise is the best way to keep movements of gas on the move, ufortunetly I can't do that, so it's a regular nuisance for me

I have gone on a Gluten free diet and this has definately helped loads with the ibs and bloating . I used to look 9 months pregnant when I had a reaction but very rarely does that happen now. I have now been Gluten free for just over 2 years and have cut out as much dairy as I can also . I was already a vegetarian and have been for the past 46 years so pretty much going vegan atm. I would advise anyone with IBS to seriously consider trying a gluten free diet . I also lost weight on it too but have been at a staple weight for about 6 months now . I was prescribed Mebeverine for my IBS but I only take when I start with a flare up as I find that it eases the pain but if I take it more than a few days I start with diarrhoea , so dont take it all the time.

Going gluten free can be a little expensive and difficult to get products at times , but if you aren't a vegetarian there is a much wider selection. Some of it can be very bland and unpalatable but there are some good products out there that you wouldn't even know they are gluten free . If you want any suggestions on any products just let me know and I'll give you a few ideas.
