That is how I often feel, a cork is a very good way of describing it by the way it makes you feel, I find laying flat on my back often helps, but like I have said lactulose helps
I ve been taking lactulose twice a day since Thursday, along with deflantine and took 5mg of Bysocodol last night and not opened bowels for 2 days and still 4 days of very little wind coming out. I have just had a massive break down thinking this is not normal and something more serious is going on like a blockage.
While “not normal”: it is my “normal”. I have had the (extreme) motility slowing for 6 weeks at the time, tho’ usual cycle is not nearly that long. I have used colace (stool softener) with senna, Miralax, VIT C powder mixed in water ( a real “wake -up call” to the colon), usually all of the mentioned, every day for days- until colon “wakes up”: which it ultimately has, each, time for the 40 years that I have struggled with this syndrome….with some periods of “remission”, that barely , and fleetingly, approached “normal”. My best symptom reduction results have been from starting FODMAP Eating Plan(Monash University see You Tube and University of Michigan(I think it is Michigan) also has FODMAP research center. If interested you can join FODMAP groups on Facebook. Best of Luck! Have hope-
the duration of my times of being symptomatic has become more manageable. behj
I get trapped wind everyday after everything I eat & it’s very painful & very difficult to pass , taking 2 hours some days to release , it drives me mad . Deflatine helps , also take Colpermin before meals & I've just started taking doTerra peppermint essential oil , but the best thing is relaxing , easier said than done when you’re in pain .
Also just had a Sibo test today & that’s positive , so I’m wondering if that’s making things worse as I haven’t always had the trapped wind .
I feel your pain & frustration, trapped wind is one of the worst symptoms of IBS.
Thank you for that. That makes me feel a bit better, that am not alone with this awful trapped wind. I was thinking about Sibo myself but how do you get tested for it ?
I asked my consultant to sort out a test for me or you could ask your doctor .I had an odd taste in my mouth in the morning when I was on the loo , that’s what made me wonder if I had Sibo , also & this may sound strange but my dog kept smelling my breath 😂
They have a much stronger sense of smell than we do !
I had asked the dentist if I had bad breath but she said I hadn’t
Chinchona offinalis (homeopathic)helps a lot. Google it, I like the homeopathic sublingual from amazon.com. It also comes in a liquid (sometimes labeled quinine”) The pharmaceutical equivalent is “hyoscyamine”. They are all anti-spasmotics. Check w Doc first. Good Luck! behj
Yes, I'll try to remember, if I do get some. I'm getting a bit old and batty now! I wouldn't be ordering it until after Christmas now. Also I have never found one thing that helps in all my 35 years of IBS, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope. What I would probably do, if I do get some, is write a post just saying I have tried it and what I think.
Hi there I’ve also had this try abdominal massage you can find videos on you tube good luck x
I used to get this a lot. I found a heat pad helpful. The more you get uptight about it the worse it gets I’ve found. It will go away sooner or later. Watch what you eat more carefully for a few days.
When I'm windy or constipated this is my strategy (although it sounds like I'm milder than you)* take peppermint capsules (I like Holland & Barrett Extra Strength Oil of Peppermint 200mg)
* abdominal massage (I like the Pelvic Empowerment channel on YouTube: youtu.be/JALxwIIPS0g)
* a brisk 30 walk after breakfast
* sip water through out the day - not big glasses in one go. I sit out a bottle in the kitchen and each time I go into the kitchen I tap a few sips. Wherever you might pass by through the day would work.
* add ground linseed into my food: easy to put in yogurt or porridge but can also be sprinkled over curries/rice dishes.
