I'm new here , my mum recommended the forum as she is an IBS sufferer ...
I've never actually been truly diagnosed , just a passing comment from doc ... Anyway ..normally if I avoid certain foods.. mainly dairy .. I cope ok .. if I have a flare up I just have peppermint tea and imodium and all is good within 24 hours ...
Seems I have been quite lucky , last Friday night I go awful stomach ache, cramping (like contractions) in my upper abdomen , bit had these before... But they were crippling and felt like I had severe trapped wind .. I also had diarrhea, so took imodium it did nothing , in the end I took painkillers and I finally fell asleep
The next day I was so exhausted I spent the whole day in bed , with a temp and slept on and off only snacking on crackers. ...
I'm worried this is something more than IBS ?
I'm now scared to eat, in case I'm in pain again
I'm due to see the docs tomorrow am , has anyone been through this or can offer advice
Thanks
Suzi

Id say u had to much dairy and gluten. U had the cookie dough also the pizza and cheese and the doughy base!
I cannot eat pizza it makes me soooo ill. Anything doughy or stodgy( bread, pastries, pizza)
I saw a gastro and she told me it because dairy and gluten especially oh and red meat takes longer to work through the digestive system which then makes it work harder and ur get pain and since i gave up both i have had 2 flare in about 8 months and there not that bad.
So mayb it not just dairy mayb it was all the stodgy pizza
Maybe you had a flare up due to eating fast food? (saw that you had pizza hut and cookie dough.. LOVE the cookie dough!!) I had a really bad flare yesterday after eating dominos the night before. It was like severe squeezing pain in my upper abdomen, up into my chest and throat and I just felt lousy all day It sucks when you have a flare up. Maybe something at Pizza Hut didn't agree with you? Good luck at the doctors! Hopefully you start to feel better soon! xx
I have had IBS now for nearly 25 years and now it is chronic and I have experienced the worst pain ever. I have had two children and would not say this was anywhere near the pain I experience with my IBS.
As you said, it comes with several other ailments.
I start with anxiety, re my intense pain, knowing what is going to follow.
Then comes the sweats and nausea, feeling faint then most of the day in toilet on a bad day.
Over several other days I am bloated because of the constipation, cant get dressed as nothing fits me. The tiredness is the worst as I cannot get out much unless I am going by car as its too risky to even think of going on public transport.
On the outside I try to put on that I am fine and that is what everyone sees but on the inside is a completely different story.
The very few times I can get out its like packing a suitcase but that is my life and I have to accept it.
How they dont class this as a disability is beyond belief!
If I need to go out the first thing I have to do is find the toilets just incase otherwise I panic.
It's seems we all struggle in different ways and some people just have it so hard
I'm scared to eat much
Im terrified of it affecting my social life , I've never had a good relationship with food
I had a phobia of trying new things .. so as I've got older I've tried more ..eaten more...
And yes we slag off pizza but 10 years ago I would have touched it and now it's my fav thing... Lol so it's just sods law that I may have to cut it out
I don't have large portions as I cant stand feeling full
I always panic about finding the nearest loo sometime s too
I also feel that GPs do brush thing s to one side ..
I'm really hoping that isn't the case in an hour X
You are spot on. People can say oh its this, its that but you can eat the healthiest of foods with IBS and still get these symptoms. Trust me, I have for over 25 years with it.
This is the upsetting part, what works for one person doesnt mean its going to work for everyone.
That is why I understand and sympathise with everyone as we are all different.
I would never judge anyone for eating pizza, takeaways as I said some of the healthiest food react too.
Everything in moderation and you find out the do,s and donts of your own body.
The best advice I would give you is see your doctor and Im sure they will tell you and offer you what they feel will work for you to try.
So sorry to hear that. Its a horrible illness. At least we can chat here and if I can help in any way with some advice then I am always here for a chat.
