I’ve had ibs for nearly 3 years now, in the last few months my symptoms have become extremely worse, alternating diarrhoea fatigue nausea cramps weakness / bloated cramps nausea out of breathe 24/7 , this week has been particularly bad havnt managed to keep anything down/in since tuesday, just drinking peppermint tea for now and very intense cramps and shooting stomach pains, ive had to take the whole week off as I just cant leave my bed, i am vegan / gluten free / & on low fodmap diet, ive tried every kind of over the counter medication which work for mayb an hour or so to releave ssome pain, ive also been prescribed amatriptaline & omeprazole which neither worked. I’m at a loss with what to do next steps, ive had all the blood tests and my b12 was low so i had a series of b12 shots 3times a week for a month, and now the gp just tell me to ‘watch what I eat’ i have not had colonoscopy or endoscopy as I had the blood test for ibd and it was negative, I am going back to Gp next week to insist further tests, can anyone recommend anything ive not tried yet thats has helped you?

Check if you have SIBO. Also, you should see a gastroenterologist.

Hi,I’m new to the group & have not been diagnosed with anything yet but have had similar symptoms which mainly start dec to April.I have recently started suspecting ibs so tried silicol gel an hour before meals. From the first time it was an instant improvement thankfully as I was getting desperate.Don’t know if anyone else has had any success with it on here?but it’s been a great help for me.

Hi. I've had IBS-D for 2 years or so now and am getting more and more anxious about going out anywhere unless I've checked that toilets are available! This means going out for a long walk anywhere is pretty much a no no. I've started taking Enterosgel - 2 hours before or after a meal. It seems to be helping. Quite expensive but a natural product - might be worth a try. It's so debilitating IBS-D!

Gosh I’m so sorry to hear you are having a terrible episode. I know how you feel. Have you tried Mbeverine and Nexium together? They stop your colon spasms. I took my diet down to soups for a few days to stop aggravating the gut. You do need to see a gastroenterologist. Sadly there is no cure for ibs we just have to manage each episode but it seems it’s mostly stress on the nervous system. I’m about to try digestive enzymes to help digest food in the small intestines better and slippery elm herbs to calm and strengthen the intestine lining. Pro biotics helped me with stopping diarrhoea and I’m dairy gluten wheat free. I drink a lot of fresh ginger tea too. Good luck seeing a specialist. It sounds like it’s time to see a specialist but pretty sure everything is ok - it’s your stress levels causing all the issues :/

Vomiting isn't a normal sign of IBS. Have you had a COVID test? I know it can come with gastrointestinal symptoms. B12 will be a challenge on a vegan diet, so you are likely to need to supplement with B12 on a ongoing basis - best to discuss this with your GP. For your IBS have you tried Alflorex probiotic which has been scientifically studied for IBS? It has been a game changer to me.

I also find silicol gel excellent one hour before meals but take it regularly to benefit from it

H pylori? Stool test or breath sample? Ask the question as this is sometimes overlooked by doctors

I had SIBO diagnosed but prior to diagnosis I was very ill. Alforex really helped me. I also take magnesium citrate, vitamin b complex & vitamin d (as it has been winter) I don't have milk, wheat or gluten. At first I stuck to leafy green broths plain scrambled eggs, tuna with plain jacket potato & sometimes a small salad but now can eat lots of different foods, I only have a flare up of IBS if I've been greedy & eaten a lot or had something I shouldn't have had ie chocolate!! I ended up paying private as due to covid nhs hospitals were not carrying out gastroscopies but it was worth it to get a diagnosis & peace of mind knowing it wasn't all in my head!!Hope all goes well for you. 😊

I see a lot of people suggesting a gastroenterologist, is for an endoscopy treatment? I currently take mebeverine and landoprazole. Mebeverine helps to ease my stomach pains and take it 20 minutes before I eat. The landoprazole is for my reflux symptoms which doesn’t work much but it seems to have lowered? Probably down to my very simple diet. Hope you get better soon.
