Trapped wind

When my IBS flares up I suffer with trapped wind. I tried Rennies Deflatine just 1 tablet and it eased it. But when looking at contents saw it had Sorbitol in it which I understand is not good for IBS. What about Windeaze is that better for IBS. I also take Mebrevine prescribed bt Dr. I have health anxiety and are having CBT with a therapist has anyone else found this effective. xxxx

Thank you I will try Windeze for the trapped wind which sometimes not only in my stomach but goes into my back. Its such a relief when I can pass it.

Hi,

This might sound strange but have you tried laying on your back and lifting your legs up. I do this when i get trapped gurgling wind in my intestines and it usually shifts it...ie: i release gas while in this position or soon after if i relax. What I'm talking about here is basically a shoulder stand

I also use "legs up the wall" pose. These poses take the pressure out of my stomach and whole digestive track.

All the best.

The old chewable Windeez used to work brilliantly for me but can only get the gel capsules now and they hardly work for me now. The physical way i get the the wind out is to get onto all fours on the floor and slowly move back and forth and then start bouncing back with your bum on your heels then back to rocking and then move all your weight forward onto your arms then rock back again. The wind comes out 99% of the time for me that way. Hope that helps you. Davena

Yes. I've found that windeze are by far the best. Try & get the gel capsules. It's the active ingredient simethicone that is key & has been a saviour with me.

If your in the uk, savers health does them the cheapest. £2.99 for 24 caps.

All the best👍

The only thing I can offer in the way of help is make sure you don't eat anything that causes wind. I assume you stick to a low Fodmaps diet and dont eat onion, garlic or veggies other than those on the low Fodmaps list. Lactose intolerance and fizzy drinks can cause massive peoblems. Potatoes in any form can also cause wind. Hope this helps.

Yes I do not eat any of those except I have milk on my porridge. I have done for years I did try soya milk thinking I might be lactose intolerant but didnt make any difference. Have tried oat milk and that caused more wind.

Ginger tea works well.

Have you tried Pepto Bismal? I recently had trapped wind and constant nausea with my IBS and pharmacist recommended it. It worked well.

I have a lot of trapped wind too it can be very painful, I find if I lay on my left side it sometimes helps also lay flat on your back and massage your colon and put your knees up that sometimes helps. Or a hot drink of either green tea with lemon or just ordinary tea and a hot water bottle . I hope you find some relief .
