For a while now I’ve been suffering what feels like trapped wind and back pain caused by it. It comes and goes. Lots of gurgling and wind from both ends.
It’s normal for me to be diarrhoea and constipation in turns.
Also suffer from acid reflux and take omeperazole for this.
Anyone had similar?
Thanks

Have you been to your GP and told them about these symptoms? Have you had a formal IBS diagnosis after running tests to eliminate other things?
It is possible to have mixed (constipation and diarrhoea) IBS otherwise known as IBS-M.
Where do you feel the pain in your back? If it is between your shoulder blades, this is likely to relate to your acid reflux. If it is the mid to lower back, this could be trapped wind in your intestines.
For temporary gas relief you can try Rennie Deflatine - though you might need to see if this affects your medication by reading the leaflet. In the long run, if you have a formal IBS diagnosis, you could try Alflorex probiotic since many people's IBS is due to a gut bacterial imbalance which can cause food intolerances. Alflorex can help bring things back in balance.
I was diagnosed with iBS some years ago after tests. I am visiting my GP tonight for advice. This has being going on intermittently since May when I had a negative H Pylori test. Some weeks nothing at all, next week I’ll be full of wind all day and feel as though it’s in my back, also lots of bubbling sounds from left side.
yes I get that a lot. I call it a gas attack. Last for a few days with a lot of back pain. I think something must trigger it but I don’t know what. The last one was a few days ago and I put it down to some nuts I ate but it could have been anything.
I have this along with IBS often it sounds like a drain gurgling away. I cannot go anywhere quiet as I either start to giggle when it gets really noisy or someone will say "Is that your stomach?" and then look amused or horrified. The wind can be embarrassing at times but normally I take Peptac or Windeze as they seem to work. When I am really full of wind I suffer with back and chest pains, all due to wind it's incredible where it can cause pain.
I have had this issue consistently for a few years now, along with the same symptoms you mentioned. I had acid reflux a few months ago along with chest burn but that has gotten better now, unsure why.
Like Bumpity mentioned, my stomach vibrates and makes loud sounds (probably of gas or food passing) which are very embarassing. I'm a student now, so you can imagine how often I have to attend lectures in quiet rooms. Unfortunately I tend to avoid attending classes as much as I can, and also avoid social interaction.
My doctors seem to have given up. I try to just stay at home all the time. Out of curiosity, did you manage to find any medicine/diet modification that works for you?
