Can I ask a question? I was constipated months ago and following a painful BM thought I tore (fissure). Each time I would go, it felt like razors at the end with at times bright blood. Went to GI, she looked and said it was Grade 1 piles. Gave me proctosol 2.5 cream. I have been using for 2 months which stopped all symptoms. But if I stop using it I feel the sharp razor pain come back, no bleeding. Is this something I need a colonoscopy for? Is there something else that treats internal hemorroids? Is this more serious? Ugh... thank you

Internal hemorroids
You are not alone. I get this sometimes too. If you are worried, go back to your GP and ask if she thinks you should have further investigation.
You get the internal hemorroids? Does it go away? How does everyone deal with it? If I go back to my gI her response is always colonoscopy. It’s ridiculous.. ugh frustrated!
I think mine is the occasional anal fissure rather than piles. I had a colonoscopy last summer, and was quite anxious ahead of it. I didn't need to be. The prep was a bit tedious, but not as bad as I expected, and I was sedated for the procedure and didn't feel a thing. The consultant was a complete gentleman. Slightly tiddly on Fentanyl afterwards. It was a strange experience watching a picture of my own insides. Piles not found, but I do have colitis. I would not be worried if I have a colonoscopy in the future.
you can check with your G.I. doctor about several ways to deal with them. one way which I went thru was a procedure called "banding". what they do is put a band around the internal hemoroid which cuts off the blood supply to it. the tissues banded dies off and falls off on own painlessly within a week, removing the hemmoroid and the problems that it causes. there are 3 hemmoroids internally total, and you may need to have it done 3 times if all 3 are effected. Hope this helps you as it helped me, good luck...
Hello! Thank you for letting me know. I don’t know how many I have but can it be done in the office? This doctors answer to everything is “colonoscopy”. I just don’t see why she can’t fix the problem first.
yes the procedure is done in the doctors office and takes only a few minutes. It is a bit uncomfortable at first, but within a short while you feel normal again. Plus just think of not having the hemeroid issue any longer. as for the colonoscopy, after 40 years of age you should have 1 every 3 years to be checked for cancer and any other problamic issues.
Every 3 years? Oh boy?!? Do you happen to know if they band the hemroidhs does it cause bleeding or pain after? I am thinking to just have the colonoscopy and have her do it whole there. But I have a big event that weekend and am afraid of problems from it?? Ugh this is such a pain..
the colonoscopy is not a problem, they put you asleep during it, and you notice nothing from it. My doctor did the banding at seperate appointment [they don't do it during colonoscopy as they need to know from you if banding is too tight], and they only do 1 at a time. Yes it is uncomfortable for about a day, but no pain. If your hemroids are that bad, i'd suggest having the banding done as it helped me and feel 100% better for it
Thank you for your help, glad your doing better from it. I was told I have Grade 1 small hemorrhoids. The cream works but if I stop using it then I get that sharp feel. So I can put it off for a while but... So your saying I would have to go back and fourth for each one to be banded? They don’t do it all at once? That’s crazy..? Has to be another way? Ugh! Thanks so much I appreciate the help!
