In order to stop the cramping and gas I took an Imodium on Tuesday to give me some relief from the pain and slow things down. It really worked, to such an extent that I have had no bowel movement for 48 hours and am really panicking.
Has this happened to anyone else please?

Yes.I find when I take Imodium I don't go for at least 2 days but get back to normal after then.It is a welcome relief for me and don't think you need to worry.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I know worrying about it won't help but it's hard not to be anxious. I even find myself looking at people and thinking how lucky they are to eat without worry. How sad us that?
So do I. My other half can eat anything. He lives on spicey foods. I look at what he eats and think "god that would kill me if I ate that" My diet is very limited. I have recently gone on a low fat diet due to gallstones. I have also cut out all processed foods. My IBS is better as a result of this.
Ditto all of the above! But also, I have read somewhere, don't take Imodium if you have bloat, so might be worth bearing in mind. I think it was in the leaflet that comes with it but not got that handy at the mo but you could just check, to be sure. If you have had a bout of diarrhoea and then you take Imodium I guess it makes sense that you won't be able to 'go' for a day or two as your bowels are probably empty? Does that make sense? Anyway, what you describe seems normal after Imodium, so don't panic!
Hi Forestina, I used Imodium instants which means that I can take half a one just to calm things down a little, I find that this works as it isn’t so affective that it’ll stop me the next day.
Thank you for the advice. I may very well try it. It feels as always as if my insides are so raw and the Imodium gives some relief. It is just so tiring and scary and doesn't help with appetite and weight. A truly vicious circle.
I suffer from IBS D and travel anxiety makes it worse. If I have to travel I take an imodium . Its ok not to go to the loo. If I take one it usually slows things right down for a few days. It will return to normal. I just don't take them too often or you will end up constipated.
