I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 6 years old. I am now 25 and have never really suffered that much from IBS. It has only been over the course of the past 12 months that I have gotten very bad. It has gotten to a point where everything I eat is causing me to have horrendous pains in the middle of my stomach (like someone is trying to rip my insides out). I spend a lot of time on the toilet, either spending up to an hour or spending hours going to the toilet every 5 minutes. I also get shaky very bad. To the point where my whole body is viscerally shaking and I am unable to stop it.
I have cut certain trigger foods out of my diet, however I don't think there is a key thing causing it. For example, last night I was sat playing on my phone around 7:20pm and all of a sudden had a horrible pain in my stomach and the urge to go to the toilet. I had not eaten anything since 12:30pm when I sat and ate my lunch (my normal of chicken wraps, cucumber and raisins)
I have had all of the blood tests at the drs to rule out any underlying conditions (crohn's, celiac ect). I have taken all kinds of medication (Buscopan, Colifac, Peppermint tablets) and nothing seems to be working.
My drs have now refereed me to a specialist as they think there is something more going on other than IBS but they can't seem to get to the bottom of it. It is also having a major effect on my work as I need to take time off when I have an upset stomach and also on my social life as I am too afraid to go anywhere in case I have an attack.
Just wondered if anyone else had any similar experiences around this and if anyone can offer advise on pain management?
