diarreha

I had 2/3 of my large instestine removed due to cancer. I have had chronic diarreaha ever since. Lost 40 pounds in a few months. I take Cholestyramine, lomotil and sometimes opium tincture. Does anyone have any suggestions on something else I could try please. Thank you so much

I don't know of any thing off hand just want to say I hope it gets better for. You. You have certainly been through a lot. God Bless hope you can find some suggestions here.

Are you able to up your dose of cholestyramine - how much are you currently taking daily and does it help at all?

I take it 2x a day totalling 4 packets. Have you heard of it? It does help a bit.

Yes, I take it for Bile Acid Malabsorption/Disorder (BAM/BAD) which has exactly the same symptoms as IBS-D. I know that the maximum dose is 6 packets a day, but as that high dosage size is rarely given, try asking your GP if you can increase to that.

Perhaps you could also try reducing the amount of fibre in your diet as this causes a lot of problems for IBS-ers who are diarrhoea-predominant.

The low-FODMAP diet is also very successful in reducing symptoms. If you don't already know about it, I'll gladly point you in the right direction for information.

Have you tried emilinating foods like dairy?

I found that that works for me
