I have had blood tests and a colonoscopy. Everything is fine apart from high iron levels. But I was just wondering if anyone has had the same sensations/symptoms in the subject line?
Any advice or reply from someone that has had the same symptoms would be appreciated.
I have also just had a FIT test (testing of poo) and everything is fine. This has been goind on for about 6 years.

Hello David, I'm sorry to hear that. Do you mean loud gurgling sounds? If yes, I have the same symptoms since the past 5 years. I try to exercise everyday, drink water constantly, eat small meals more frequently etc. These are not usually effective for these symptoms but help with some other symptoms of IBS. I have also had blood tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy done but no use.
Sorry to say that I don't have any advice on managing these symptoms. I try to stay home most of the time since I find it embarrassing to be with people when I am bloated and have my stomach/intestine produce these sounds constantly
Hi Blue_Grey and thanks for your reply. I have heard and read research that a lot of IBS Sufferers benefit from taking anti-depressants, not that I really want to take that path. However, I am sort of like you, I was so confident and outgoing and would get involved in anything but now these symptoms are starting to destroy my confidence.
I also have heard that CBT cognitive Behavioural therapy is a good thing too. I am waiting on some blood tests and will decide again what to do. I know one thing, I am going to keep pushing these medical professionals until I get the answers I need.
Hi David,I've heard about the use of anti-depressents too. I can understand how IBS causes depression and vice versa. It seems like there's no way of getting out of this vicious cycle. I started going back to university recently and find myself leaving the lectures everyday due to these loud gurgling noise and bloating. I found that I was always super embarrassed to be around others - so much so that I started getting panic attacks when I sat in the lecture hall, and fully stopped attending in-person lectures.
It feels as though the doctors have given up on me. They all say that I should exercise, eat right food, sleep well etc. I've been doing that diligently for the past 5 years but still see no cure.
I had a short Counselling course which helped with coming to terms with my condition and its impact on my daily life. I'm sorry that we have to continue to live with this dreadful and confusing condition
Last year I went to a private consultant in London and paid for different tests including a parasite test. It showed that there was Blastocystis Hominis present, but it also said that this is a very controversial parasite as in it shows some symptoms in people and some not. I'm wondering if it is worth you maybe looking at that avenue of parasite testing. I have been researching the buzzing, tremor sensation in the anus for about 4 years now. And today strangely enough I have found something that says it is Haemorrhoids and or parasites that sit in the anal canal. So next time I speak to the Doctor I am going to mention this as I do have Haemorrhoids and bleed from time to time.
Thanks for sharing that! I'll look into the test you mentioned. And good luck with your next appointment with the doctor. Definitely worth mentioning haemorrhoids as that could potentially be linked to some of the other IBS symptoms
So sad to hear of your worries, I too have IBS and can be very noisy sometimes sounding like a dodgy drain and it is very embarrassing as you know. My GP recommended Peptac, similar to Gaviscon and also suggested windeze. The Peptac is for some unknown reason very good at stopping the noise and a lot of the pain, I tend to take it before bed but am not a rgular user as it's not a regular problem. You can buy it over the counter or it can be prescribed. The windeze helps with the really painful wind but I don't use it often. When I was still working and the IBS was more problematic due to the nature of my work, my GP prescribed a low dose of Fluoxetine (Prozac) which helped no end.
Thankyou for the reply Bumpity. The thing is for me I have never been in any pain with all of this it has been the gas and bloating. The bloating has gone away so it is just gas now and sometimes I am farting like a horse lol. So that sort of tells me that what I have could be bacterial mixed with Haemorrhoids.
I go through periods when my gut is noisy very low down. Mostly, not connected to any diet change. It happened the other evening. I was fine up until bedtime, then while getting ready for bed my gut started gurgling and making endless noises. It unnerved me, made me wonder if I was starting a flare up, but I was so tired and lay down in bed and decided to ignore it. The next thing I knew it was 7 hours later and morning. I didn't even have any upset gut in the morning and bowel movement was fairly normal. It happened a few evenings on a run, then stopped. No idea what caused it.
I've never taken anti depressant drugs, but have heard that SSRI drugs can make IBS-D worse. Though they may be slightly beneficial for IBS C.
