Hi have seen this mentioned on here as another option I had a colonoscopy 6 years ago and whilst I didn't think procedure itself was that bad the prep was, symptoms have got really bad again and feel anxious as got worse so wondered if I should ask for one? Can anyone give me any advice? Many thanks x

Hi,

If you Google 'colonography' you can see just what the procedure entails.

Advantages are that not only is it less invasive than a colonoscopy, it also has a good look at surrounding organs, e.g. kidney, liver, pancreas etc. However, you still have to have your bowels cleared before the procedure and the disadvantage to it is that if anything untoward is spotted on the scan, biopsies and polyp removal cannot be done at that time and you have to go back.

I had virtual colonoscopy as the normal was bad and discovered had long bowel so it was so much better then actual prep was the problem mind u plus side I lost some weight after taking the laxatives but if u have polyps it's no good for that as they have to do it again

I also had to drink Coloprep but could only manage the one sachet. A friend has just had the exam and they gave her an enema. I wouldn't take that Coloprep again

Think I may se if I can get one, I feel so silly as it is almost like I are to have test every so often just to rule anything major out, not ha ibs is not a major disruption to your life! Then the more anxiety I get the worse it becomes, a vicious circle!
