Due this on Wednesday this week,at interview with radiologist he said no pain involved.

Google research shows 5-10%] do experience pain

Think that might be us in the IBS category!

Going to try and get a muscle relaxant ahead of time

What experiences have others had with this?

Just thinking about it is giving me cramp pains

I had a colonography with contrast (ct scan) absolutely no pain whatsoever!

Not to be confused with colonoscopy which is a camera into the colon. I also had this, had a sedative beforehand, and was completely knocked out. I suffered no pain at all, during or afterwards. The prep drink was actually the worst part of the colonoscopy, which I'm sure everyone will agree with.

It's a necessary evil, and you'll feel so much better when you've had it done. Good luck, no biker

Hi ,I agree with Nobiker, check what your having a colononoscopy is entirely different to a CT Colonography, I had a colonography last week,no problem whatsoever, you will feel nothing, now the prep, not to bad as long as you stay home near a toilet. You also have a two day diet, which isn't very pleasant ,but not to bad.  But check which it is.

hi,Gemini, not heard from you for a while, have your symptoms improved at all? resume youve not had the results of your colonography as yet?

in reply totigga

Hi tigger, thanks for asking,I haven't had the results yet,way to soon.

As for my symptoms improving not a chance, every single day, I have excruciating pain by tea time, that being because each time I go the loo in a day which is usually 3-4 times, the pain gets worse.

I'll definitely put a post on when I get the results.    How are you doing anyway, better than me I hope.

Hello Tigga,I had the results of my test today, saying they can't find nothing wrong, therefore there putting it down to IBS,what a joke,I don't even believe in IBS,you don't suffer pain like we do just from irritable bowel, there's got to be a reason.  All your medication I've been on,plus Pregablin,Mirtazapine and Tramadol,   Pregablin and Mirtazapine I'm still on because the WD symptoms are so bad,so there's two drugs I'm on for nothing.

Acupuncture my daughter inlaw had for her back, and it's not permenant ,so I wouldn't be happy with that.

In 4 weeks I go back to see my Gastrologist in Manchester so I'll wait and see what he says.   Oh it told me on the letter to go and see my GP for a prescription for some pain relief . If it was that easy I would have done that in the first place,he's only going to offer me Buscupan or something like that. Anyway he's a waste of space.

Sorry for the rant Ann, but I'm so p....d off.

              Norma.

hi,Norma,no need for the apology at all!i glad your results were clear but not helpful for you.im seeing my  Gastrologist Prof in 4 wks also hes very good & says someone with i b s wouldnt be in severe /daily pain & says hes determind to get to the bottom of this pain,he referred me to pain clinic but they just doubled up my Gabapentin which left me severly constipated/very bloated but a few days pain free so ive come down on the dose i dont know why i bother with any pain killers, like you they dont work for me,cant win! my rant over now Norma,im p.....d of too! Ann.
