I had a TeleMed appt two days ago and doc recommended the bland/Brat diet for five days to see if that helps, as well as Zantac (Famididine) am and pm, and Benedryl at night for both the anxiety and anti-histamine effects.

Be sure to bin any old Ranitidine (Zantac) because carcinogen levels rise as it's stored! The amount of NMDA goes up as the pills sit on a shelf. Bloomberg just put out a new article on it that goes into detail, with strong evidence.

Like it doesn’t always happen to me but it’s happened a couple times first times were with Zantac and now recently Prilosec like they turn into bad migraines it’s so odd

H2 blockers, Zantac, Pepcid AC. I was on Prevacid for a year for a bleeding stomach. I did not know until a few weeks ago that PPIs prevent your body from making a chemical called Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide allows blood vessels to relax. PPIs can cause heart failure. Just a heads up.

I see that the US have now banned Zantac (the US equivalent) because it is feared to be carcinogenic. Has anyone else developed the same condition as me, and also suspects that Ranitidine is a contributory factor?

Some of you have said you are still able to obtain the Vantas implant. I have been calling the manufacturer, Endo Pharma, for over a year and always been told they are not currently supplying it. I’ve recently found out about the class action suit against Zantac for knowingly providing meds with known cancer causing properties. It potentially caused cancers all over the body, not just breast. Just thought I’d pass on the info in case anyone needs to know.

For the school of thought that GERD can be caused by excess stomach acid, antacids such as proton pump inhibitors (PPI) like Prilosec, Nexium & Prevacid, antacids such as baking soda or Tums and histamine antagonists such as Cimetidine/Tagamet and Zantac which work as histamine receptor antagonists.

I've managed with zantac last 3 years but know they've been pulled. But my acid came back 3 weeks ago, suddenly too!!

No longer able to get Ranitidine or Zantac, so has anyones indigestion got worse, and what have you been prescribed as a safe alternative?

Occasionally use zantac 75mcg but not everyday by any means. Would welcome any views/comments etc please. Many thanks

Ranitidine is the active compound in Zantac.

I don’t know much about this, however prostate cancer has been placed on the listing of cancers impacted Zantac. Do you have any information you can share with our group?

Furthermore, it seems that Zantac has been withdrawn. Has anyone taken Omeprazole as well as statins? GERD untreated can lead to pulmonary problems so I feel in a bit of a predicament. I go back to GP in 6 weeks for blood tests and don't know if I should ask to stop the Omeprazole.
