How much does mucus affect peak flow?
I was getting 350, then a bit later I cleared some mucus, I then got 400. It seems like mucus is making my readings worse. Seems like it could mess with tracking it. Do you disregard reading like that? This happens to me a lot. Thanks

Lung Stiffness
My peak flow hasn't changed, and I dont have any chest tightness or any other asthma-y symptoms, but I've noticed over the last few days whenever I'm taking my inhalers my lungs feel stiff and sore on the inhale. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Its more of a discomfort than anything

New to asthma at 38... struggling
Just been diagnosed with asthma by the nurse after 3 months of issues.. Shortness of breath, wheezing and cough. New to this to be honest and I’m finding it quite a challenge to adapt to. I’m 38. Had first proper attack about 3 weeks ago, went to A&E they sent me away with steroids. Did peak flow over

Asthma slow onset and atypical - getting help
Hi, I have the sort of asthma that doesn't fit the norm in that I don't weeze. I get breathless from doing things like walking but when I sit down it tends to go away after awhile. Last month I had a hell of an experience trying to get help for my worsening asthma symptoms. Part of the problem is covid

Random symptoms and new allergies??
I wondered if anyone has had anything similar to me as this year has been terrible and the doctors and nurses I have seen aren’t able to give much explanation. My symptoms consist of my chest becomeing really tight, it almost feels like the back of my throat is tight and my breath feels wheezier too

Peak flow tracking
Hi all I must admit to not tracking my peak flow unless I think my asthma is getting worse. What is the gold standard for doing this correctly?

Should I be on levothyroxine yet?
I'm new here. Hello! I'm a 61 year old woman- usually fit- good BMI and do strength training. No regular meds until recently. In spring 2018 I felt tired and rundown ( I have a stressful job and it was over 2 years since my last period so I wondered if this was just post menopause - not on HRT) The

Do I need steroids again?
I only starting suffering with my breathing in Feb 2020. I am 49 - never had asthma before. Here we go!
Just had a call from a locum doctor from our surgery as I'd asked for a replacement inhaler. She started by saying that I was overdue a medication review (basically surgery only offers telephone diagnosis) so we could do it over the 'phone. Did I have a blood pressure reader and a peak flow meter? If

Asthma nurse, long term medication
Hi all hope you’re doing well. Been for my first appointment with the asthma nurse to check inhaler technique etc, she was very nice. The way she way talking was that she classed me as having a diagnosis of asthma and asked about symptoms/triggers. She read that the gp had suspected it a few weeks ago

Can certain food effect breathing?? Weird flutter feeling
Since Monday afternoon I have been getting palpitations/flutters in my chest and throat. More so when I lay down, peak flow and oxygen was ok. Some people say certain foods a cause this, it’s really hard to describe the feeling. Almost like there is a butterfly flying around my chest and in my throat

Feeling low after time in hospital
Evening all, I came out of hospital a week ago after 5 days in with asthma exacerbation and unidentified infection. I've got a nebuliser on loan for a few weeks and was needing fewer nebs day by day, until Sunday when they started going up again (and peak flow down). I was supposed to have a follow

Pains in upper back
I have been having slight pain in my upper back and front of my chest, but other wise feel well. I have been taking more of my ventolin as finding chest feeling a bit tight, checked my peak flow and that's fine. Unable to get in touch with Dr's as they have problems with staff and covid.

Fostair problems after 7/8 weeks?
Hi just wondered if anyone had a similar experience on the pink Fostair inhaler. My asthma has always been ok, I never used a daily preventative just took my blue inhaler before sports and would need it occasionally during high allergy season. My peak flow has always been high (700+) and remains high

Brown inhaler causing anxiety?
Hello all! In summary; I was diagnosed in July after doing monitoring my Peak Flow for a fortnight (nurse said results over 20% was an asthma diagnosis. Mine was 43%!) I do feel it's a mild case, and that perhaps it's exacerbated by disordered breathing. I digress! I've been sporadic with taking

Hi 👋 I am new and have left an intro thread. I am also newly diagnosed. Thank to those who kindly replied to my thread. I am using an app called PEFLog on my phone. Here is a screen shot of some of my readings for the club members here who are clued up.

Blocked from return to work w/ controlled asthma?
Hi, I know many people are worried about returning to work during the current situation because they are asthmatic, but I seem to have the opposite issue - my work medical unit blocked my return because I'm asthmatic, but my asthma is totally controlled and I take one inhalation of seretide accuhaler
