analysing asthma-a bad thing?
i hope your all well. i have this dilemma and its thanks to my three doctors who are still contradicting each other. My original gp was terrible and gave me all the wrong medication and i saw a different gp who was much better. then he refered me to a hospital doc who has asked me to keep a peak flow

spirometry results help to understand them!
hiya my asthma has been fairly awful all year with a hell of a lot more time in hospital than out of hospital! I had some spirometry tests done at the beginning of my admission but was too poorly to ask for results. I know the ones in the middle of my admission were better but not sure what they

A few questions from a newbie to asthma!
Morning all, I went to the doc three weeks ago after failing to shift a cough/wheeze for 6 months despite antibiotics. A test revealed there was no bacterial infection. The cough gets worse when I lay down, when I gt up or when I start walking. The doc suspected heart failure (given that my ankles

Slightly disappointing news
After about 6 months ""off"" Seretide where I havent been feeling too bad,my latest astma clinic visit has revealed that my peak flow has dropped from 500-525 to 400 so its back to the inhaled steroids again-small beer compared to the problems some of you have but still feel a bit miffed though !!

A bit of advice re strange feelings in my chest
HI. I am symbicort 200/6 four puffs a day and bricanyl as and when. I've been having really strange feelings in my chest - slightly tight and heavy since Christmas. I have been to the doctor, had an ecg etc so I'm not asking the site for medical advice as I know that would be really dangerous. But...

Feeling tight chested today
I have been feeling very tight chested all day today, so I have had to use quite abit of my blue inhaler. My peak flow has dropped to 350 from 450, so I do not have a lot of energy tonight. I have just ha really bad winter with chest infections and had to be spend most of the winter on steroid tablets

Peak Flow Meters
I have a new peak flow meter, to EU standard. Does anyone know why mine registers differently to the one at my GP's. Hers is an EU one too but always registers about 40 points higher than mine (the highest reading I can achieve on mine is 280/300, and on hers 320/340). How do I know which one is accurate

Levels of control
Hey,So I'm feeling a bit confused about what 'controlled' asthma really means and wondered if you guys could help. Are there different grades of control you would expect to reach depending on the severity of your asthma? Or is there just one gold standard of control = no symptoms for the majority of

low peak flow
I was diagnosed with asthma in May this year, today I received a peak flow meterI tried it this evening and it was 130 before my inhalers and 160 after, this seems to be a little low, but I know my asthma is not well controlled due to it not being diagnosed for a long time, probably years. So is this

Persistant Asthma Symptoms
Hi Everyone, This is my 3rd week of having bad asthma symptoms and I am at my wits end!! I have been prescribed steroids and two lots of antibiotics, have been told to increase my seretide inhaler from 2 puffs per time to 4 puffs per time. I am still suffering, but, my peak flow has increased a bit.

Advice re getting GP to listen!
I have had minor asthma problems for many years which when neccessary I have used a blue inhaler - but very rarely. At the end of last year I had to visit London for work for a fortnight during which my asthma got much worse. i assumed it was linked to the extra pollution (I live in rural Suffolk)

New and wondering about peak flow's
Hello! I've recently joined AUK in an attempt to stop being 'head in the sand' about my asthma! There's loads of really usefull info and everyone seems friendly, I'm just a bit confused by peak flows. My asthma's been playing up since about October last year - with repeated chest infections and generally
