Fostair problems after 7/8 weeks?

Hi just wondered if anyone had a similar experience on the pink Fostair inhaler.

My asthma has always been ok, I never used a daily preventative just took my blue inhaler before sports and would need it occasionally during high allergy season. My peak flow has always been high (700+) and remains high throughout all of this, so docs have never really taken me serious. This summer I was urged to switch to the pink inhaler and immediately I felt amazing, clearer lungs and mind after the first night taking it. I didn't need my blue one at all even during the bad pollen days and could play indoor sports no problem.

However I had a few problems playing football outside including one bad reaction where my chest was sore for a few days, so I started using my blue before football again and all seemed ok.

8/9 weeks on now and I'm currently in a pretty bad spot. I had to call 111 the other day as, after having different problems for a few weeks, I had a sudden bad pain in my shoulder and chest and it hurt to breathe. These are easing up but ive got a cough now and diarrhoea. The doctor checked me over and my lungs/heart all seemed fine so they put it down to a muscular problem.

My other problems were waking with numb arms after a few hours sleep which snowballed into anxiety issues over sleep which isn't like me. I had a tingle in my right foot for a few weeks and also occasionally felt a dull chest tightness. I'd get the odd shooting pain in my hands and my feet suddenly couldn't feel heat.

I hadn't thought it could be my pink inhaler until my Aunt revealed similar chest pains and numbness after switching to the pink inhaler, just wondering if anyone had anything similar?

Forstair worked great for my asthma but gave me terrible muscle pain and spasms. It’s a known side effect of one of the drugs in Forstair. Try to get GP TO CHANGE the Forstair to another drug.

Did you have any problems with your chest muscles or any anxiety issues?

Chest muscles tight. No problem, that I recall, with anxiety.

I am on Fostair. I find that it really helps my breathing but at higher doses causes muscle cramps and numbness.

Some inhalers can deplete potassium, including Fostair, the results being the symptoms you've described. Try to eat potassium rich foods and if possible, get bloods done to test your levels. Taking supplements of potassium without first checking your levels may lead to an excess of potassium.

Thank you! I do eat a lot of bananas so should be ok potassium wise🤪 symptons are easing since I stopped taking it but any further problems I will look into getting some blood taken.
