Constant coughing
Has anyone got any tips on dealing with a constant dry cough? I've had a bit of an ordeal with my 9 year old son over the past two days. He has mild asthma, we've had sketchy advice about how to deal with it, one nurse suggested it might not even be asthma. He's on ventolin and clenil but we stopped

Clear chest
My asthma is always a bit of b**ch to control but the last month and a half it has been a night mare. 2 hospital admissions and frequent drs trips. I have to take my ventolin through a spacer constantly now. I can't even put a number on how often I take it because it is just all the time. I sound constantly

I have had a chesty cough since October last year. Initially chest x-rays showed a consolidation and I have had 4 course of antibiotics but a later CT scan was clear. A referral to the hospital specialist has suggested that I probably have asthma now and am using a brown inhaler and measuring my peak

Breathless
I was diagnosed with copd. Ten yrs. ago have been Hospitalised 4times. My peak flow is 130---135 at times, I do not have a cough ....never did have but so breathless I now have to hire a scooter to do my shopping, everything is an effort. Problems with asthma advice needed
Hi, I've just joined this forum and would be grateful for some advice on my asthma. I have had asthma for 22 years but I've only had 1 hospital admission in that time as usually my asthma is well controlled, but concern is that I had some pain on the left hand side of my chest which triggered a cough

First hospital admission - worried
Hi Everyone I've been asthmatic for over 18 years (I'm now approaching 40!) Between December 2013 and August 2014 I needed four courses of Pred and antibiotics. But from August 2014 I've had good consultant care and an excellent home action plan. Usual medications are; Seretide 250 2 puffs twice

questions about identifying infection and using rescue pack
Is there any way to know if you have a virus or chest infection? Im so unsure of when to take ab and pred. I cant get any sputum up so cant tell by that. I started AB yesterday but don't know if I need the steroids too. How can I tell for sure? I really do not want to take them if I don't have to

Pain Wins the day!
Well today I have decided that pain has won the battle I will have to go to the doctors. I have had this for so long and the muscles are now coming out in a tight and knotted sympathy. My lower back around the kidneys has two very pronounced muscle spasms that hurt so much when I try to massage them

Mullein tea update
Happy Valentines, to all, week two on Mullein Tea update can report a further slight increase in my peak flow, little set back beginning of week with a quite a big drop, but have recovered that back and a bit more, I think the set back was due to the nature of the disease, than any thing to do with

Peak Flow vs Spirometry results
Hi. I am hoping someone can explain the significance of PF & Spirometry. My peak flow is always 200- 250 and varies very little whilst my spirometry (FEV1/FVC) is restricted but is on the low side of normal at 80/83% predicted. During the past few months, I have been finding increased SOB and difficulty

Having investigations - scared
Hi, I have never had any lung problems and always a non-smoker. 11 weeks ago I started with a hefty chest infection, but felt ok and didn't rest up. When it didn't go, I went to the doctor who says I either have asthma or COPD, and has given me an inhaler, peak flow meter, medication & chest x-ray,

Not getting the support I need from GPs/nurses at surgery
Hi all, First of all apologies for this really long winded post... I'm just at the end of my tether and fed up of being made worse because doctors and nurses don't listen to me and/or don't read my medical history. I had pretty chronic asthma issues in my teens, but have been extremely fortunate for

Peak Flow Variability
Hi everyone Sorry I keep posting questions on here, but I'm still only learning - despite having mild ""asthma"" since I was about 2 years old. I'm now 22 years old. My Doctors always told me ""my asthma doesn't worry them"" and as such, I never really bothered reading much about it. However, since

It Went From Bad To Worse...
I'll gloss over much of what happened during the following eighteen months... Joe had cattle in the fields behind the cottage...he'd come to check on them at two in the morning...park right outside our front door with the car radio blaring and then walk straight across our vegetable garden... Luke had

GP Questioning Diagnosis
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with Asthma, I am 36 so this is adult onset. My journey started a couple of years ago when I had a bad flare up following exposure to a large amount of dust (the office air conditioning unit was serviced by my desk and produced what I can only describe as a dust
