Asthma or something else
My asthma has been severe lately, several hospital trips and a few admissions. Monday was my last one. Well today I feel horrific, hardly been able to move.. My eyes hurt, I'm exhausted, my chest feels tight, I'm really sweating and just in general feel weak and my heart is racing.. I don't know if

Inhalers: what to take and when!
Hi everyone! Hope you are well and staying safe! This is more an infomercial for newbies to asthma than anything else! I know starting out it can be quite confusing as to what to take when, especially when it’s not been explained why, so thought I’d do a (hopefully) short post about it! INHALER DESIGN

Frustrated with GP
Hi, I’m hoping anyone can help or if anyone has had the same experience I’ve had asthma my whole life, no one else in my family has it so everything I’ve learnt about asthma is through my GP (asthma nurse). The past couple of months I have been struggling a bit with my asthma, I’ve been 3 times now this

Clenil making cough worse
Hi everyone, newbie here! Doctor thinks I may have cough variant asthma as I have an ongoing dry cough (bark) for years now... they always put it down to allergies as my peak flow didn’t indicate asthma, anyway they have now given me Clenil with a spacer which I have religiously taken for one week twice

Frustrated and apparently over medicated
I've just had a frustrating call with the respiratory consultant. In the 7 months since I caught covid I've had 3 courses of pred, vast quantities of ventolin, added montelukast, upped fostair from 2x100/6 to 8 x 200/6 a day and added uniphylin continus - my GP has been fantastic and over 5 months I'd

Bit of an update and a query
Hi all, hope you’re doing good. So I went to back to the GP after a week of prednisolone, peak flow diary and ventolin and he thinks from the steroids and ventolin helping me and the ups/downs of the peak flow that I may benefit from a preventer inhaler and to see an asthma nurse. He said I will need

Just learning ..
Hi another question from me as I’m new to this, hope everyone is well. I’m not seeing the GP til the 26th so just thought I’d ask some more advice. My Gp has given me a peak flow meter, prednisolone for 7 days and a ventolin inhaler. I predominately spoke about shortness of breath in the first appointment

Uniphyllin side effects
Hi, I’ve just been taking Uniphyllin Continus for a week -200mg am and pm. It seems to have finally stabilised my peak flow but the side effects are a real pain. About an hour after I take it (excuse the details) I get diarrhoea for 2 or 3 hours! I’ve tried taking it on an empty stomach, taking it after

New to forum, need a bit of help
Hi I have just joined this Asthma forum, hope all are well. Just wondering if anybody has any advice please. Apologies if it’s a silly question😊. I have had breathlessness especially on exertion for a few months now, possibly post Covid symptoms from May. (I got a tight chest now and then before that

Flovent side effects
Has anyone else experienced chest tightness after taking Flovent ? I feel like my lungs are irritated after taking it and since stopping my peak flow has improved. I also felt like it was making me anxious. Thanks

Am I underplaying this?
Hello lovely people I’m not quite sure how I feel (except I’m back on steroids so - excuse the language )- ever so slightly ‘whizzing my tits off’. And this post may be a bit random but I’m wondering if I’m underplaying my symptoms? My personal best PF is 550. Last few weeks I dropped to 440 so changed

Is anyone else on 2 puffs of duo resp twice a day?
I was diagnosed ŵith asthma about 18 years ago after a bout of wheezy bronchitis. I was left with a cough. I was given various treatment and am now on duo resp. steroid inhaler. I always feel like I’ve been misdiagnosed though, because whenever I need to see a doctor when I feel breathless, my peak

What is the difference between spirometry and peak flow?
Had a phone consultation with my surgery’s asthma nurse this morning. She has decided to put me down for spirometery when they start doing it again. Mainly I think because I told her that back at Christmas time when I had a horrendous virus - sure it was covid but we didn't really know about it then

I have been coughing this stuff up all day, not sure if I should ring the doctors or if I’m being dramatic? My chest feels tight, am wheezy, my peak flow is 250 though so above

Tight Chest That Is Ruining My Life. Any help?
Hi All, Thanks for any help or reassurance in advance. Me: 33-Year-Old Male. Ex smoker (as of 4 weeks ago - light smoker over the years, probably 4-pack years max). Well-controlled asthma for about 15 years (Beclametasone ICS, never needed rescue inhaler when not smoking). My recent story: i) 3 months

Qvar question
Short version: possible Covid back in March, persistent breathlessness helped by salbutamol, was put on Qvar 50 2bd. 5 months on, docs are still saying I'm post-viral and can come off it any time, but every time I try, my lungs feel sore and itch intensely as if I've got mosquito bites inside me. Increasing

Sharp calf pain in right leg. Wk2 run1
Hi all. So the good news. My peak flow is up so my lungs are getting stronger which is fabulous. Went for the first week 2 run of 90 sec jog and 2 min walk. But on the second set I had a twinge in the middle of my right calf. This meant that I had to heel strike for the rest of the set to get it done
