Not diagnosed yet, but in research mode...looking at proton therapy especially
My husband is 48 years old and his PSA has risen since he first got tested for it about six years ago. He had a biopsy two years ago that was negative. He doesn't have a family history of prostate cancer, but his mother did have breast cancer. Then, this past January, his PSA rose again (I think from

Dad having severe SOB after 1 Alimta maintenance infusion
Hi, if anyone has any insight to this I would appreciate it! My dad has SVC syndrome with the mass pressing a bit on his right ventricle of the heart and some narrowing of the bronchus. He has stage IV NSCLC (one mass in upper right lung with some plueral effusion spread as well as spread to both adrenals

Went from Stage 3 to Stage 5 in 2 years - low protein diet?
I was first diagnosed with CKD in August 2006. I noticed blood in my urine and went to an urgent care and they sent me immediately to the ER. My BP at the ER was 260/140. The doctor in the ER tried to lower my BP too fast and I passed out and almost went into a seizure. I was in the hospital for a week

Coming to terms with prostate cancer not easy
I am finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with the news that I have prostate cancer. I am nearly 64 and my PSA level was found to be at 6.6 in May 2018. After an MRI scan, and transperineal biopsy on 20 June, my urologist told me my Gleason score was 4+3, stage T2b, with intermediate risk

Need help with Lupron question
As some of you know I’m Gleason 3+4. Will have TURP in August and then 28 sessions of proton therapy starting in November. My close friend was diagnosed 4+3 shortly after. He’s being told by 3 oncologists (IMRT/proton) that it would be best to do 4 months of Lupron plus the radiation. Other testing

Just the beginning
Hi, I’m John, 73 yrs old, G7(3+4), T2a, no mets, PSA 12. Dx Feb 2017, AS since. I’m learning about all of my options while following AS. My PCa is not very aggressive, but I’m not sure what, if any, action would be more beneficial than debilitating. I’m considering Proton Therapy, but holding off as

Comments on test results Of thyroid profile
Can i use
whey
protein
as post workout? MY GP recommended me the semi solid food intake, thats quite hard for me to manage. What kind of diet are we talking about for this condition? I have sore throat all the time usually. Is it my thyroid which is affecting this or might it be some infection?

Elevated CRP
Well, the good news just continues. After finding out via email that I have ckd I finally set down to look at the rest of my results. My C-reactive protein test seems to be extremely elevated at 12.8. Could this be because of my kidney disease?? Cholesterol number are fine. Tryglicerides just a little

Dietary method for reducing fluctuations in PD (1987)
What are good updates to this 1987 study which is open access? Dietary method for reducing fluctuations in Parkinson's disease. Pincus JH, et al. Yale J Biol Med. 1987 Mar-Apr. Abstract. Motor fluctuations and non-response to carbidopa-levodopa (Sinemet) therapy are major problems in the long-term management

I'm new here... this much I know, PMR under 50 is not the norm but NOT impossible!
I don't know how I found this group but I'm so glad I did. I live in a small town in South Central Alaska with very few support groups of any kind let alone one for PMR patients. I read someone's post several nights ago and was too tired to comment. They talked about being under 50 and docs not treating

Low serum free thyroxine level is correlated with lipid profile in depressive patients with suicide attempt
I really don't know what to say about this abstract. Unless I am getting it entirely wrong, don't total cholesterol and triglycerides tend to rise with low FT4? Anyway, it has certainly previously been reported that it is vital to consider the possibility of statins causing or worsening depression
