Iron plus zinc better for iron deficiency anemia
reading about zinc I came across the following article. I mean it focuses on chronic kidney desease but I found this gem of info stating that zinc combined with iron is better than iron alone. Now I'm not iron deficient. But I thought this might be interesting for those who are. Beware too much zinc

carbimazole and iron supplements
hi all, I have very low ferritin and need to supplement iron. Do I need to take my carbimazole away from iron or it doesn’t matter?

Why would Active B12 blood test not be recognised by GP when I have lots of symptoms?
I had previously had a blood test for B12 which was apparently normal if a little low. I was told that no treatment was required.I continued to have most of the symptoms of a B12 deficiency so after 4 months and some research I paid for an Active B12 test which showed I was low. I took this to my doctor

Blood test result - iron
Hi all I have taken iron tablets prescribed by my GP for over 15 years. My Ferritin levels were low when I was in my 20s and have taken iron tablets since then. I was really unwell last year with an unrelated illness and I haven’t taken my iron tablets for a few months. My results; Serum Iron

Rosacea due to B12 deficiency?
Hi, I have been diagnosed with vitamin b12 deficiency and starting the loading doses after firstly being prescribed oral. I had felt unwell for at least a year and had lots of the usual symptoms but I developed a rare form of rosacea (rosacea fulminans) at the end of last year which the GPs had not ever

any way to increase ferritin without increasing iron saturation?
after two months of taking iron supplements (75mg every other night on empty stomach), my ferritin rose from 51 to 158. Unfortunately, my iron saturation rose from 46% to 59%. This is caused by fairly high iron (172) and fairly low transferrin (291), though both are within normal range. My doctor

Hello. This is my first post, although I’ve been lurking here for a while and have been gradually increasing my Levo dose by following the advice on this forum. I’m not quite where I want to be yet, but definitely getting there. I’ve also been struggling with my vitamin and ferritin levels, so have started

B12 patches
At present I get B12 injection every 8 weeks, however I feel I need more as I am still suffering all the symptoms of B12 deficency/PA. I have found OmniCo B12 patches (high strength) on Amazon. It says the B12 is Methylcobalamin. Has anyone tried them? are they antgood. I, and am sure others would

Iron, estrogen & RLS
Just wondering if anyone is aware of any connection between iron & estrogen (from an RLS perspective)? I'm a 73 year-old male, and I've had high-ish estrogen levels for at least the last 7 years (42-49; normal level should be below 41). I think there is some correlation between high estrogen and high

pregabalin and iron
Hello, I have tried googling if there is any interaction between pregabalin and iron but can’t find anything. I take an iron tablet due to low iron (morning and it has not helped) but will switch to iron bisglycinate at night after reading posts here. I stop eating at 6:30pm so I can take my pregabalin

Advice on iron status
Hi lovely people, I was hoping to get some advice on my iron status. A bit of background, I have just recently increased levo to 88mcg a couple of weeks ago, and was on 75mcg before that. So, I am aware that my thyroid hormone is still too low. It's a slow process getting docs to increase! My question

Dissecated liver for iron
Hello, I’ve had issues with my ferritin being low, even though I’ve been supplementing with iron for a while. Has anyone tried dissecated liver to get their iron levels up? If so, do you have one that you would recommend?

iron results
I’d appreciate some feedback on my iron panel results please? I know my ferritin is too low, even if it’s above the bottom of the range. I upped how much black pudding, pate, or liver I’m eating at 5 out of 7 days a week for over a couple of months. Is my iron too decent enough to be able to take

Iron blood test - definitive list
I got my recent blood test back, haven’t yet posted all results to my profile, but my ferritin was rock bottom (7 out of 7-271 range) so I’m going to get a full iron test before I share all the numbers here and decide my next med change. What should I ask for: Iron Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC

Intro + some PA questions
Hi all :) As an avid armchair researcher, I already have good notes on B12 deficiency and Pernicious Anemia, but a few things still confuse me. I'm also curious how our unaware GP is planning to treat my mum with recently discovered PA. My story in short... I've been aware of "the true nature" of
