JFK - Kennedy and B12
Given the current coverage of the anniversary of the death of President Kennedy, it seems not unreasonable to post about his health issues - specifically the possibility of Pernicious Anaemia. This is a paragraph from near the end of the article. Not intended as anything other than an interesting footnote

Iron panel interpretation please
This is a friend’s recent iron panel I’ve looked on rT3 adrenals where it says a low transferrin level indicates a lack of capacity for supplemental iron. I really don’t understand this when it’s clear her whole panel is low, including ferritin. My grasp of iron is poor so anyone who

How quickly does homocysteine rise following cessation of B12 injections?

Iron deficiency problem? But told satisfactory . Please can anyone advise
Hi everyone, Hope you are all keeping well as we can be. Apologies for this long post I recently requested in Sep to have my VIT D levels checked as I recognised some of the symptoms from when I was deficient. And for some reason my levels had dropped so started 5 weeks ago to take a twice weekly

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice on whether to pursue b12 def with my GP.... Some history for me (currently not diagnosed with a B12 deficiency) 2021 - GP - exhausted, burning pain in lower leg, pins and needles in feet, restless legs at night. Other blood results
I now have more results Serum folate 14.3 (3.1-17.5) Ferritin 138 (13-150) Iron 14 (5-28) B12 280 (200-940) Since they are in the range ‘everything is normal’! The coeliac one was clear so I can now try gluten free for 3 months to see if it makes any changes. But I am still tired, muscle aches

Ferritin iron advice please
Hello, My recent ferritin results was 21% of range, even though iron was 78%. I did neglect iron the last few weeks a bit as I ran out of my usual iron tablets. I have now Solgar's Gentle Iron 20 and iron in a liposomal form (gel) 20 mg as well. How many should I be taking to raise it? Thank you

Hello friends 😊 Following my last tests (a bit over 2 months ago), I added vitamin b12 drops 3 days a week, have cut down my B complex to 1 capsule, and I taking a separate Folate supplement as this was getting quite high, and it was pointed out to me that it is a "Goldilocks vitamin" when trying to

Vitamin D test
I have been taking Vitamin D+K2 for a few months now, while in Tesco today I noticed a at home vitamin D test so I brought one. I have just done the test and it showed only 1 line which says vitamin D levels are excessive and I should contact my doctor, how reliable are these at home finger price tests

Suppression of TSH but low T4/T3 levels whilst taking Levo/Lio Combo
A few years ago, my thyroid results were looking a lot better but NHS GP over the last 2 years has told me to reduce my dosage twice (because of the 'risks' of overtreatment). I'm now on 100mcg levothyroxine (75mcg supplied by GP and topped up by myself) and 25mcg liothyronine (self-sourced). I now don't

Where do I go to?
I am a 60 year old male, I don’t know if I have PA, B12 deficiency or other. I have a number of symptoms which lead me to believe it is at least a B12 deficiency. Having asked my GP for an “active” B12 test I received a full serum test which came with normal levels and apparently that was me cured, my

B12 sublingual
Hi, I suppose this has been addressed before, but....Is there any reason not to take sublingual B12 around the same time as ndt? Usually I space the sublingual B12 a couple hours away from ndt but figured the B12 is bypassing the digestive system & the ndt is not. My TSH, FT4&3 are all good. Since

Folic Acid does not cause PA
I saw this article with responses about the consumption of folic acid. What do people think about the responses? Especially the one who says that there shouldn't be a limit to the amount of folic acid taken. https://www.bmj.com/content/329/7479/1376/rapid-responses I have been taking 5mg folic acid

B12 injections
I was diagnosed with PA in my 30s. Quite a shock. I was on injections until last year when I was 70. I was told by my PCP that sublingual B12 would work. My last bloodwork indicated my B12 levels were off the charts. I've never, ever had high B12 results. I'm wondering if it could have been a mistake

B12 Deficiency Video
This video does not address the need for B12 injections, it just recommends oral supplementation but I still thought it was interesting https://nutritionfacts.org/video/friday-favorites-the-symptoms-of-vitamin-b12-deficiency-and-optimal-dosage-for-adults/?utm_source=NutritionFacts.org&utm_campaign=22b90fcb7d-RSS_VIDEO_WEEKLY

B12 or something else?
Hi About 2-3 years ago, during lockdown when it was difficult/impossible to see a GP, I started taking B12 supplements 3-4 times weekly. Whilst not wanting to diagnose myself, I felt I had little choice given the GP situation, plus my daughters are B12 deficient, and had the same symptoms as myself
