He said he’d retest

The cause of my B12 deficiency.
The most likely reason for my B12 deficiency is my body uses B12 faster than is normal for reasons unknown and unstudied other than me as far as I know. This is why self treatment that increases the frequency which was at first based on more B12 was effective. To inject more B12 I coincidentally injected

Functional B12 deficiency question
Hi, is anyone diagnosed with functional B12 deficiency here? If so, could you tell me if you have B12 injections, how long does it take to feel any positive effect? And what frequency might be needed. Going round in circles between neurologists, psychologists and endocrinologists all doing their best

Help getting B12 injections
A few years ago it was discovered that I had very low B12. The gp prescribed liquid but I wasn’t absorbing orally so he changed it to injections. The loading dose made such a difference and thereafter i had a B12 injection every 13 weeks. Then it all just stopped. The surgery decided they were

Vitamin D dosing advice on this website
Hi All, I have only in the last year picked up on the need to build beyond the most basic levels of vit D - my blood test in March 2023 showed a level of 50 which is not seen as problematic but insufficient for optimal health. I have read the advice here which seems very sound and there is a lot of

B12 Deficiency and Pernicious Anaemia
According to the NHS, the causes of a vitamin B12 or folate deficiency could range from pernicious anaemia, a lack of B vitamins in your diet, or from the medicine you take for other conditions. Learn more, and in addition to the NHS Total B12 test, where you can find the right private test for you

Iron tests
I spoke to my doctor today as I was concerned about my ferritin of 48 which was tested on 8th May, after reading that with high auto antibodies, which I also just found out I have, my ferritin should be over 100 to not have iron deficiency. She booked me in for iron studies tests next Wednesday at 11.25

Anyone has this issue
I was given my B12 injection today and told I need to book a review with a GP as my B12 level is good and that I could now take oral B12 instead. My experience before on oral B12 is it didn’t work for me. Every bit of research I have read states Pernicious Anaemia doesn’t go away and you need B12 injections

Advice on Vitamin D, K2 and Folate
Hi Everyone I have recently had a range of blood tests done, unfortunately I don’t seem to have any results for thyroid which they were supposed to do. My GP has asked me to make an appointment to speak to her, so I’ll ask why I haven’t got any results for thyroid and whether the test was done.

newly diagnosed anemia
Hi. I’m new to HealthUnlocked and to this group. I’m also in America, so I hope it’s OK that I post here. I’ll try to put in all the info I have and follow proper posting guidelines. It’s taken me a while to be able to get this post all typed up due to tiredness and brain fog. I just had 3 month follow-up

Other blood results
I now have more results Serum folate 14.3 (3.1-17.5) Ferritin 138 (13-150) Iron 14 (5-28) B12 280 (200-940) Since they are in the range ‘everything is normal’! The coeliac one was clear so I can now try gluten free for 3 months to see if it makes any changes. But I am still tired, muscle aches

B12 deficiency and b12 deficiency anemia
So we went to GP this evening, the antibody tests are back as negative. The GP was sat there with my complaint letter in front of her and was abit funny with us to be honest. I quoted the NICE guidelines and asked why my partner was not being treated for neurological symtoms. She informed me these are

Serum B12 versus active B12
Dear members My GP results for serum B12 on 21st June showed 832 ng/l (197-771). My active B12 from Medichecks on 25th Sept is 70.8 (37.5-188). Do I need to supplement? I do not take any B12 supplements at present as my serum b12 has always been high/over range which I find a little worrying as
