Hello I have read some comments here and people are so helpful, and supportive. I had a cough a year ago, went back and forth to the dr, was given antibiotics, nasal spray for post nasal drip, capsules for acid reflux, nothing helped, my dr seemed very uncaring. I changed my dr and he started me on

Ventolin question
I have emphysema/asthma and am on 3 inhalers, Spiriva Respimat, Symbicort and Ventolin. The Ventolin seems to help the most with my breathing (I think). What I'm wondering is how much and how often can I use it? My lung doc says 2 puffs every 4 hours as needed. But I've seen some conflicting info online

Stitch/pain in side - shallow breathing
I have asthma and COPD, managed with Fostair and Ventolin. I had a stitch in my left side for a day or two and this morning I stretched in bed and it felt like I pulled a muscle. I haven’t been able to properly breathe in so my inhalers haven’t been as effective and today my breathing has been shallow

Graduation Run Aborted at 17min due to F******** asthma
So annoyed. It’s been getting worse as the weather has changed. And totally scuppered the run. Took ventolin four times before running and still was wheezing. No park run until I have a good last 30min. Body willing but lungs failing. Gutted.

Vacation
Travelling around. 32 deg outside really cold a.c inside, I don't know what do to with myself. Being as sociable as possible and sucking on ventolin when kids not looking. I'm so happy to be here but it's not easy. The view cheers me up and I will stop the rant now. Sorry folks. Melbourne beach from

General anaesthetics for gallbladder removal and asthma.
I am on the active waiting list to have my gallbladder removed. I have a large stone which is giving me a fair amount of discomfort. I also suffer from reflux which I understand can aggravate asthma. I have had asthma for approx. 45 years and the only time I needed Ventolin was approx. once per year

Severe/chronically poorly controlled asthma: what do people do with 'small' flares?
I know the usual advice for attacks/poor control etc, but what do people on here who have chronic poor control do for flares that are more than their baseline level, but not enough for hospital etc? (NB the following is very particular to me and is not something I am advising for anyone else, especially

Hi everyone. Had an echocardiogram along with clear chest X-ray and waiting for lung function test again as my last one was 66% and also been referred to respiratory clinic. My heart was normal size and all valves looked to be Normal but the doctor as referred me to a cardiologist as he said there was

waiting for diagnosis!
I'm new to this forum, hoping to get great advice! I'm having trouble waiting for a diagnosis for my breathlessness, I try to be patient but I get despondent. I'm 61, otherwise healthy and slim. I've had TB & bronchiectasis a few years back so I know I'll never run a marathon! This year I

Which inhaler ?
Hi everyone I gave up smoking 4 years ago and I had no side effects from smoking, I'm currently 52yrs old. I then started training for a half marathon and struggled breathing. I was wheezing, coughing and felt as though I was going to collapse. I went to see my GP and after a few test, and because my

Morning all, sorry to sound random but i never know if ive had an asthma attack or not as i wont go to the a&e dept, and rarely visit the dr unless i genuinely need to. Suspected asthma but no wheeze
I have been suffering with a cough for 2 months. It is worst at night, waking me from sleep and when I exercise. I saw a nurse about 5weeks ago and she suspected asthma. My peak flow was only 220, about half of what it should be. I was given a blue inhaler to relieve symptoms. I used this frequently

New Meds
Hello I had real problems with breathlessness, and my Consultant changed my meds to Qvar (twice a day) and Spiolto Respimat (Once a day) also Ventolin when needed. My breathlessness has improved but not as much as I hoped. My sats were 89-90 before, and now at rest can be 96 but as soon as I start moving

diagnosed with 'possible' asthma
Hi all, I am new here, and scared. I have had several bouts of supposed bronchitis over the last 2 years, always affecting my right lung. In October 2016 I had atelectasis, and was treated with ventolin as well as 2 courses of ABs. My peak flow is apparently okay, chest x rays likewise. The spirometry

Preventer?
I'm a bit out of my depth with all the information around. My 6 year old was diagnosed with asthma earlier this year. He has a ventolin inhaler and can go long periods without needing it, then we have a week like this one where he gets a cold and his PEF drops by half and he needs the inhaler multiple
