Diagnosed and confused
Hi, I'm 41 and in the south west. I saw my GP for a cholesterol check and two blood tests, an ultrasound and eight days later I had an unofficial diagnosis of PBC. Then a couple of days before Christmas a few weeks later I saw my consultant to make it official and get medicine. I'm a bit lost and confused

Travel Insurance and PBC
I've been looking annual travel insurance for a couple (aged 65 and 72) and the questions about PBC seem very extreme for my situation. I have been very fortunate with the discovery of the anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) about 15 years ago and still no symptoms. LFTs showed a bit of an increase

Very negative Newspaper article abou PBC and AIH
Hi I was diagnosed july 19 stage 1 fibrosis. Like everyone else I was shocked and bewildered as I knew nothing about it. No one offered to explain the disease and I have never heard of anyone having it . When you have serious cancer you are assigned a specialist cancer nurse that can answer any questions

Protein shakes
Hi. Merry Christmas 🎄 to my dear friends. I have a question, is there anyone using protein shakes (supplements) for training and exercise?? I don’t know if it’s safe for me or not. The problem is that my genetic trend is to be thin and I don’t want to get slimmer during exercise. I asked a sport medicine

1st appointment. What to ask
I was diagnosed in August by hepatologist based on my gp blood test. They did further tests on the day and I've had ultrasound and fibroscan. I'm taking Urso daily. Tomorrow is my first appointment since august. I expect they will explain results from the various tests. Is there anything specific I

2nd MRE Score....
Hi, I hope everyone is doing well for wherever they find themselves in their PBC journey❤. Last year in November I had my first Elastography test. My Kpa score was 3.14kpa. My hepatologist didnt seem concerned. My most recent blood tests are about the same, everything normal except my fluctuating Alkaline

Symptoms of non responder to urso
I have been taking urso for 9 months now after being dx with PBC but the last couple of months I have been feeling sick and getting gastric reflux after taking them. My last bloods were within normal range apart from high colestrial. Can anyone tell me what the symptoms are if you are a non responder

Annual update, DNA testing, Gastric Bypass, Fungal Skin Infection, Brittle Nails, Looking for GI doc
So almost a year has gone by, now I am headed into being 47, still struggling with Dupuytrens in my right hand, but had the cataract surgery and things are looking "brighter" LOL. I recently did my DNA through 23 and Me, did not tell me much healthwise, but I did find out that I am 83% Irish and English

Recently diagnosed
I was diagnosed with PBC on 16th Oct 2019, although I suspect that I may have had this condition for some years. I appear to be one of the lucky ones in that there is currently no significant damage to my liver and I am responding well to medication. However, I have been advised by my surgery to make

MRI with Contrast /PBC
Hello everyone. So I am almost a year into being diagnosed with PBC. I have had 2 mri's with contrast , once when first diagnosed and another in Sept. They were unremarkable except for a simple cyst on my liver and a few simple cyst on my kidneys. My doctor has me scheduled for another mri in Feb. Needless

Dosage chart for Urso
This chart is from the early days of 250 mg tablets so if you take 500 mg you would be taking less pills but the total mags per day would be the same.

New to Group
Hi everyone. I joined recently and wanted to introduce myself. Figured I should do it soon since our Yahoo group is going away. I was diagnosed with PBC in November 2015. I’m currently on Urso and Fenofibrate. My ALP and all my other numbers are now in the normal range except ALT, and just found out

Increased urination with urso
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced having to go to the loo at least twice an hour when taking Urso. Very inconvenient! Last night was up 4 times through the night so disturbing sleep patterns too. Just started taking a couple of weeks ago so maybe just teething problems. Also have nausea, headache

More medications
Hi can anyone give me a loan of a magic wand please? I’ve been advised to take a new medication to help with the dreaded itch. It’s called Colesevelam 625mg. The problem is, I’ve to start with 1 tablet twice per day working on adding 1 more tablet after each week until I reach 2 tablets 3 times per day

Newly diagnosed...slow start to treatment
Was diagnosed in October by private consultant following liver biopsy and 3 years of elevated LFT's with no conclusive diagnosis. Had a call from the private consultant on 26th October and h has referred me back to the NHS consultant who did the biopsy for treatment with urso. So far have heard nothing
