I found this interesting and informative image the other day. You can view the full image by following the link - but, depending on whether you are using a phone, a tablet, a computer, you might get different options and sizes of image, etc. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Thyroid_hormone_synthesis.png

After total thyroidectomy RI treatment, good idea?
I’ve had all of my thyroid removed and some thyroid cancer around my windpipe. It has been recommended I have radio active iodine treatment. I am taking 125 levothyroxine at the moment but have only been on them for 4 weeks. I would be interested to hear what anyone has to say about this situation

SOD or Autoimmune
Saw a private heptologist last night. He has narrowed all my symptoms down to 2 possibilities: Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction (SOD) or Autoimmune Hepatitis I have to come off codeine completely, remove onions and wheat from my diet (and dairy but I'm vegan anyway) for 6 weeks and then reintroduce slowly

Is it safe to take Biotin Supplements to try and promote hair growth & reduce thinning.
Hi! Can anyone in the know about vits & supplements advise or give their thoughts on taking Biotin supplements please... My hairstylist has recommended me taking it to help with my hair thinning, but I have read it can alter your blood test results, so I am presuming rightly or wrongly, that it can change

Burning legs
I want to appeal to all the knowledgeable RLS sufferers to see if they can help my dear husband who has been suffering from burning feet and legs. It has been diagnosed as a nerve trapped in lower spine which has been troublesome for years and is pretty wonky. He has had cortisone injections in the past

Hi, so glad I found this site
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed a week ago with under active thyroid after taking radiation iodine back in October for Graves’ disease, to say I’ve had a bad couple of months is an understatement but finding this forum is going to help me a lot I hope, I’ve been put on 75mg levothyroxine only 6 days in

Iodine
Hi A quick summary, I had a partial thyroidectomy 20+ years ago. Currently take T4 and T3. But I also have to take calcium because of low blood levels. I take seaweed calcium because I’ve read it’s better for bones (I have low bone density), but I’ve just noticed it contains iodine. And I’ve seen

Thyroxine/iodine
Hi - I no longer have my thyroid and my last bloods were in the normal range. I just bought some multi vitamins which have 100% RDA of iodine from kelp. Is this OK to take??

3x Hyperthyroid relapses, what is next?
as the title suggests, I am 36 years old. I had 3x relapses of hyperthyroid (Graves disease) over the last 7 years, I have been using carbimazole as treatment. The first treatment lasted almost 2 years, the second is 1.5 years and I just started the 3rd treatment. The consultant is suggesting this time

When to take Thyroxine advice please
Hi everyone, I’ve been taking my thyroxine (100/125), with all my morning meds + tiny bit of food, followed by breakfast 60-90 minutes later for 10 years and my endo says this is fine. I can’t say I’ve ever felt the thyroxine’s made any difference, and lately other major health problems have begun
