Statins
I have AF but it’s controlled so far with daily flecainide and bisoprolol. I get a three monthly blood test for iron overload but this week the doctor advised me to get a cholesterol blood test as well. All of my results for cholesterol were within the ranges but my doc advised that it’s recommended

Nose sores
Good morning, Can anyone tell me what you do for nose sores. I've had one at the inside tip for weeks. They come and go but when they come they last for weeks. They've been coming more frequently too. I'm at a loss of how to heal this. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE, Sjogren's and MCTD. Is it

Can Someone be in the normal TSH range but still be suffering from Hypothyroidism
My daughter has been suffering multiple symptoms, reoccurring urology issues, aches and pains, IBS to name but a few. Her GP’s have only ever tested for TSH which has always been in the middle of the range. As I have autoimmune hypothyroidism as well as an autoimmune blood disorder should they be

Cardioversion with amiodarone or straight to ablation?
CV 24/2 failed after 1 week. Heart function team suggest course of amiodarone combined with further CV after a few months of this medication. They have left it with me to consider what I would prefer to do. Either proceed with the above ( with a list of potential side effects which are impossible

Commenced Bisoprolol
Hi I suffer from Paroxysmal AF. I have been taking Rivaroxaban for 2 months. I saw the cardiologist and he has started me on 2.5mg Bisoprolol daily. I took my first dose at 10am and by 2.30pm my Heart Rate had dropped to 50 bpm. My question is to others who take Bisoprolol for rhythm control and who

Levothyroxine
does anyone know if Levothyroxine is definitely gluten free as I’m coeliac and unsure if it’s not helping with my immune system.

Treadmill test
As an aid to diagnosing persistent chest pains - the consultant thinks they are non-cardiac but wants to investigate a bit more-I’m to be given a treadmill test in a few weeks. I asked for this instead of the more rigourous but not very pleasant “stress test”. The heart rate will be raised to 100 during

Low dose <5mg eliquis
I am taking Eliquis 5 mg twice a day. I get some significant bruising. I am also taking ibrutinib 140 mg which is lowest dose...blood counts are good. I was also diagnosed with afib. I'm wondering if anyone is taking less than 5 mg Eliquis twice daily and if that works? I've talked with a couple friends

Arrhythmias
Hi Everyone,I have Afib, 1st episode in December 2022 resolved by cardioversion followed by 2 episodes in July 2023, lasting 24 and 12 hours respectively. I am currently on 1.25 bisoporal daily. Over recent nights I have been getting arrhythmias which my scan watch and omron devices don't classify as

fluoxetine
hi So I’ve asked before about Fluoxetine as treatment for my raynauds I’ve been told it’s extreme primary although they haven’t ruled out secondary. I’m anxious of taking drugs and wondered what experience anyone has had with fluoxetine. Effectiveness, side effects and is alcohol ok? Thanks all

cardioversion and Flecainide
An update - I had my cardioversion privately a week ago - all good, so far….. I feel so much better. HR now around 55-60 instead of 90-100 ( on high dose drugs) I was immediately taken off Digoxin and told to continue the BB Nebivolol 10mg a day. Then started on Flecainide 100mg daily, with the BB.

PS to Periodontal Abscess and Prednisone
Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my post about gum/tooth infections and prednisone. All the replies were helpful! I did manage to generate one last question. Did any of you who had tooth extractions go on to have dental implants? I am leaning against due to cost and issues related to

GCA diagnostic dilemma
Thank you everyone who has helped so far. Last night I had a message from Rheumy saying I should go to the hospital for an emergency biopsy, with the headache and unusual severe temporal pain being the driver. He said that U/S was so ‘operator sensitive’ as to be unreliable in this ‘locality’. The

Polyunsaturated fats v saturated fats
I am so confused! I read on another site polyunsaturated fats are bad for people with hypothyroidism and saturated fats are recommended. I tend to follow the Mediterranean way of eating more for heart health and keep slim. This includes oily fish , avocados and nuts which are PUFAs. My GP wanted me
