my dad has castrate resistant metastatic pc in bones- currently his psa is going up but his scans have been stable- he gets them

Every three months- after Zytiga and xtandi are there still many treatments available- the scans were stable for over a year and he gets them

It is the best single drug for PCa, IMO. Now, combinations are proving even better. Age is not a restriction, only if his blood work is poor. It is always tragic when men wait too long to use it. It is more effective and causes fewer side effects when used earlier.

TA, if the scans show no radiographic progression, isn’t it better to wait till the cells begin to divide before starting chemo ? Otherwise I understand that the patient absorbs much of the toxicity. I am in a similar situation myself which is why I ask. Thanks.

Yes! No need to change therapies until there is clear progression. He was asking what treatments are available, not when he should initiate it. Usually PSA>2, rapid PSADT, or radiographic progression are signals that it's time to change therapies.

No firm definition, but <9 months at maximum.

the only thing are his platelets due to liver issues like fatty liver disease so they run under 150
