Hi all, My Dad who is 68 yrs old has been told to go through dialysis. His serum creatine levels is 8.1 and Blood urea is 135. He is currently in India and I am in the UK. I am worried that he won't be able to come and visit me!

Morning ashishs221

Sounds like your Dad is not at end stage kidney failure. My husband got down to 6% of his kidney function before he started dialysis and his creatine was about 350. You need more information.

Hi. The results you give don't fall in line with kidney failure results found in the NHS. When my wife was having dialysis, her creatinine level was 335 and her urea was 13.9. She had to have 3 sessions of dialysis a week, each one lasting 4 hours. If you father had to have a similar regime, he may find it difficult to visit you unless arrangements could be made for him to receive his treatment over here. Hope this helps.

Thank you both. I should have referred to the units they use in India (normal creatinine levels 0.66 -1.25 mg/dl) my dad's level is 8.5. Blood urea (normal levels are 19 - 45 mg/dl) and my dad's is 172. Any input from you is helpful. I'm now in India and getting really worried.
