Trabeculectomy

I had this procedure done 5 days ago. Although my eye feels fine ( a bit blurred) I would like to know if others feel that it’s been worth it. I am 72 and already had lost some vision in that eye. Fortunately my other eye is still good.

Hi, I had cataract surgery and a Trabeculectomy 5 days ago and want to know if I can wash my hair yet??

I had a trabeculectomy in my left eye on 16th September. For the first week my eye was sore and uncomfortable, which I am sure is normal. At my 2nd follow up appointment my surgeon put in a bandaged contact lens due to a small leak from one of the sutures.

Had right eye trabeculectomy in 2019 and that eye has been fairly stable since. The left eye had a XEN implant In 2019, cataract surgery in 2022, retinal detachment in 2023, and selective laser trabeculectomy in July 2024.

I am finding it difficult to find any info of how to take care of myself ie washing hair, bending etc. there is plenty of info on aftercare after a Trabeculectomy not so on a Trabeculotomy.

On the third morning I had a bloodied area on the white of my right 'trabeculectomy' eye.According to the optician I saw today it's just a subconjunctival haemorrhage. But I'm not prone to these, and my eye has not looked this bad, even after the trab surgery in June.

This is 5 weeks after my trabeculectomy was performed. Still very blurred vision in that eye and on maxidex drops 4 times a day. At least the excessive liquid in my eye has abated although I still wake with haloes in my eye. I need to keep positive that everything is working out for me.

Has anybody had an experience with the blurry eye after surgery or pls share your experience with cataract surgery as it reflects on the trabeculectomy surgery? I would love to know if it was successful and the blurry vision disappeared. Thx

I was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma in June 2024 and told I need to have a trabeculectomy in both eyes. I was completely devastated, especially as 6 months ago I had open heart surgery to have an aortic valve replacement.

Has anyone developed a very diffuse bleb after trabeculectomy, spreading round the side of the eye? I had right eye trab 11 weeks ago . Pressure 4 at check up 4 weeks ago.

I am having a trabeculectomy in my left eye in a couple of weeks. I know surgery is experienced differently for everyone but wondered if anyone had any tips? Thanks.

I've had a trabeculectomy in each eye and have been taking two types of eye drops for years now. My pressures are stable, but my field tests are getting worse.

I had my 1st trabeculectomy 8 weeks ago and the vision in my left eye is still very blurry. I am due to have a trab in my right eye a week tomorrow (on 18th Nov). Although my consultant is pleased with my progress, I am really concerned that it will be very debilitating if I go ahead with the op.

Pre trabeculectomy I was on lantoprost for 3 months and it didn’t really lower my eye pressure and for the other eye I was on it for 6 months pre surgery. Tried fixapost and Timolol briefly before surgery and i don’t think it worked.

Hello, I’m in my 12th week post op, everything went well, my eye is healed with stable pressure of 8. Last week I has a loose stitch removed after they put me back on steroids for 3 days. Even before that I started to experience sudden very itchy eye just around spot where the bleb is, also on the skin

Hi, I am looking for some help as hubby and I are struggling after his Trabeculectomy in March was described by his surgeon as a ‘spectacular failure’ ( his body healed the bleb and pressure went up to 60) . He’s now on Dexamethasone 4 times a day.

I had the fourth of my weekly post- trabeculectomy follow ups today. The pressure was 5. Before the operation the pressure was consistently around 15. Week one after surgery it was 15, week two, 17 ( then stitch removed) Week 3 was 20. Stitch was adjusted and 11 at end of appointment.

I'm wondering how long people have waited for a trabeculectomy operation, once they have been told they need one, either through NHS or going private?

The doctors have suggested I have trabeculectomy surgery before I get pregnant, which I am considering, but I'm scared about the surgery going wrong or having side effects. I guess my questions are: 1. What drops are safe to be on whilst pregnant?

Hello I had a right trabeculectomy nearly 4 months ago & all was well until about a week ago. I have used regular lubricating drops as I have had the same surgery in my left eye that was complicated by uveitis.
