I am booked in tomorrow morning to have some stitches re-inserted into my Trabeculectomy bleb. I have had two months of blurred vision due to very low pressure (4/5). I’m keen to get a positive result here.

I am in a similar situation as you. Trabeculectomy on 16 Sept and blurry vision ever since. I have an appointment with my consultant tomorrow and really hope for some positive feedback. Hope all goes well for you today 🤞🤞🤞

I hope today goes well for you and that your vision starts to settle down and become clearer.

I'm really sorry you are having so much trouble with this. Medics call trabeculectomy the 'gold standard' operation for glaucoma, but for some people it seems alarmingly hit and miss. I had a check up last week 5 months after the trab in September. The pressure seems to have stabilised at about 4. Luckily I have no retinal damage or blurred vision but I have folds at the front of the eye.I wish you all the best for your procedure and hope your vision improves.

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty after your trabeculectomy. It sounds like it has worked, but that it's almost worked too well! This can happen and the adjustment period can be quite hit and miss. The sutures should help to limit drainage and stabilise the pressure. I hope all went well with your appointment today.

Hi Justine Rose. Sorry to hear about your journey and hope the appointment went well and your vision becomes clearer. It seems that quite a few people have had a similar experience. I had trab surgery in January and needling 13 days ago. My eye pressure dropped to 1 and rose to 2. I have blurry vision but told that it may be due to Atropine drops. Also had some gel injected but not sure if it has been successful. I have a review next week and like you, I am hoping for a good outcome. Do let us know how you get on.

Hi mitziecat,

I had four stitches put into my eye, it was a bit uncomfortable but hopefully it will allow the pressure to improve

Hi Justinrose

I hope the sutures has helped to increase the pressure and improved the blurred vision. Let us know in the New Year. In the interim, have a lovely Christmas..

Hi Mitziecat, I have noticed a slight improvement in my vision and I am ‘exercising’ my eye by stretching the muscles . Thanks for your Christmas wishes and if you let me have your address I will send you a felted angel

Hi there. I think I'm in a similar situation to you and wondered if you'd mind sharing an update?

I had a trab in December. Four weeks later the pressure started to drop, it went to 7, then 4 and a few days later 2 - my vision was noticeably worse in the eye as the pressure dropped. I am now on Atropine eye drops which have totally blurred my vision in that eye, it's hard to read and use a computer, even with one "good" eye - I have to close the blurry eye to stop me feeling weird.

I'm not sure how my consultant is doing and if I should get a second opinion.

I wondered how you were now and if you saw any further improvement?

Best wishes

Hi Roundearther

To be honest, I had my check - up 4 weeks after having 4 new sutures( stitches) put in my bleb. As I said the pressure in that eye had dropped to 3. The check- up showed that I could now read down to line 5 of the chart, but only with my eye-drop and my glasses. The pressure is now 8 . The vision in that eye is still blurry and I try to exercise it with eye charts every morning. I have accepted that this is the price I pay to reduce my chance of losing vision altogether with the progress of glaucoma .i watched a lady walking along the street with a white stick and I felt grateful for the vision I have. All best wishes

Hi Justin Rose. I am glad to hear that your vision is improving. That is a positive sign. I had a 2nd gel injection 6 days ago due choroidal issues that made my side vision distorted. This was followed up 2 days ago and vision was clearer. The pressure remained at 4 so no further treatment was given or recommended at that stage. I have another appointment on the 6th January so I am hoping that the pressure will increase slightly by then. It was higher when the pressure was measured with a puffer machine but much lower when checked by the doctor.

Thanks for the offer of a felted angel but now Christmas is over, a little late now as I didn’t log into the forum over the Christmas period.
