trabeculectomy progress

I wake up with light refraction in my eye as I look at the clock, when I shut my left eye, I see nothing but blurring. I’m getting used to my normal daily activities and use my distance glasses when I’m outdoors. I am lucky that I have good left vision , so I can still do my painting and craftwork. It would be good to recover my overall vision.

When you say light refraction, if you mean haloes, or a rainbow pattern, I'd get it checked out asap. About 10 days after the trab on my left eye, I woke up and saw that kind of pattern. I went to hospital that day, and it turned out my trab had healed over and my pressure was 55mmHg. In the end I needed it needling, but it's held find now for 18 months or so. If you've got any concerns, definitely get it checked out!

My Rt eye trab 5 years ago devastated the sight in every repect; it took seeral months to stabilise at 6/12 acuity but with extensive VF loss. I attribute this to the retrobulbar anaesthetic damaging the nerve of an eye that had experienced a three-day closed aangle attack severalyears before.

Medication is not effective enought with either eye. The left eye is due a further trab revision next Wednesday. Somewhat apprehensive! But take heart, provided yur current IOP and condition of the eye is OK, recovery should continue up to six months or even more.
