AF and knee surgery
Hello! I wonder if anyone can help… it looks like I need a knee replacement, and as I have AF I know the procedure would be done with a spinal block rather than general anaesthetic. However, I just wondered if anyone has experience of AF and knee surgery, and if so any advice/information would be much

Been told by gynae I'm too old for endo but gp disagrees?
I hope someone can help/advise please. I have been having severe abdo/gynae issues for a long time, but they have worsened in the past 12 months. I am 48 and my gp thought it was Endometriosis as I am having bowel and bladder issues, linked to my cycle. The pain is so bad I nearly pass out. I have seen

Stopping Statins
hi guys after a year last year, of frightening chest pains and ? Heart attacks, going through umpteen tests and a stent procedure ( they didn’t put one in as my heart disease was not significant enough). I went from being on 5 daily meds for my heart to then being discharged completely with just taking

knee surgery and Atrial Fibrillation
hello, it looks like I’m in need of a knee replacement and wondered if anyone with A Fib has experience of this. I’m aware it would be carried out with a spinal block rather than a general anaesthetic, but has anyone had any problems post surgery? Thanks!

HRT and women over 70
Hi all— I read that they offer hormone therapy in Europe, ( even to older women in their 70’s) but not in the US. I asked an Osteo doc in the US why and and she said because we’re not Europe! That’s all! Can anyone offer any experiences along with other ALTERNATIVES to the current batch of Osteo meds

Can gabapentin be used to treat balance issues?
Months later, for unrelated reasons, I had a
total
knee
replacement
, and following surgery I was given a prescription for 300 mg gabapentin. My normal gait returned, something I considered a coincidence until I stopped taking the medication and my balance problems returned.

advice
Hi , I’ve just started HRT this week and looking for advice. This is all new to me and I’m so confused.
I tried to google information but and keep coming across conflicting and contradicting answers.
I’m on Kliovance and trying to read up on it. I’m really short tempered and not

Menses, Mtx and Menopause..…
Hello women! I have finally got around to watching the two Davina McCall Menopause documentaries on All4.. I urge you to watch these if you haven’t seen them yet. Anyway. This is a bit of a weird one… I started taking Mtx 12 years ago at 42. My periods stopped immediately. I had a few ‘hot flushes

Vaginal oestrogen and gyno (man boobs) on husband
I'd just like to share my story about vaginal oestrogen. Before I started patch HRT, I decided to try vaginal oestrogen first to see if that would help with painful intercourse due vaginal atrophy brought on by the menopause. My (younger) husband is a health and fitness person who is super toned

Endo and HRT
I have not yet been diagnosed with endo but pretty sure I have it. I'm perimenopausal and my question is has anybody with endo successfully taken HRT? I feel I really need now due to menopause symptoms being so bad but worried about the oestrogen side making things worse. TIA

Are my iron levels ok?
Hi. At last I have managed to get a blood test done for iron levels. Could you, Sue Johnson, please comment on them? I feel the ferritin is quite high, which should be good, but am not sure about the other results. Ferritin: 176.5. Ug/ L 10.0-291.0 Serum Iron 16.1. Umol/L. 9.0-30.4 Transferrin

MRI results show DIE behind uterus and and endometrioma.
Still in shock just home from hspt, been referred to MDT they are suggesting that my choices are full hysterectomy or excision surgery and the mirina. I'm 46 so guess menopause is near but hadn't noticed any symptoms but a surgical menopause seems abrupt. Do people go straight on HRT or do you wait and

Hypo/Hyperthyroidism compared to Menopause symptoms
I've just been reading an article in Saturdays Telegraph on someones story on the Menopause. Having passed through the menopause many years ago, I was reminded of the affect it had on my life at that time. Having forgotten quite a few of the symptoms, I realise that having had a total thyroidectomy

HRT issues - Plus need to hear about experiences with testosterone
I've been on continuous HRT - Utrogestan 100mg, 2 pumps of oestrogel daily and 1 vagirux tablet twice weekly since October 2022. I'm 45. I recently switched from oral to vaginal utrogestan due to depressed mood but that definitely doesn't suit me so I switched back after 11 days. I started to experience
