scared
I’m nearly 2 years on from a triple bypass and now need 2 full knee replacements. I can have them done when I like as I’m fortunate enough to have private healthcare. But I am so terrified of yet more surgery. Family and friends keep telling me it will be a ‘walk in the park’ compared to what I had before

Heart failure
Saw cardiologist in March. He asked me who told me I had heart failure, I told him he had told me five years ago and yearly ever since. I saw him before my valve replacement. He said he wasn't sure I had heart failure. Sent for battery of tests and then got letter saying I have heart failure with

New to all this, please help with test results
People on the Hypothyroid UK forum have suggested that I join this forum because of some test results that I received yesterday. Long story short, I've finally been diagnosed with hypothyroid, but I'm still having awful problems with my memory, attention, concentration, finding words and ability to

Why has my TSH increased after several years of taking the same dose of Thyroxine?
Background - following RI treatment for an overactive thyroid I have been taking 75mcg Levothyroxine daily since 2015. At that time the consultant endocrinologist said that I should aim for a TSH of around 2. I have annual blood tests and the previous two years the readings have been 2.7 and 2.9

Sciatic type pain following knee replacement
Hello all, I had a total knee replacement 3 weeks ago and since then I have had a constant pain emanating from my lower spine and across my buttock. It’s worse when lying down. Has anyone else had this after TKR? I’m hoping it’s just upset muscles rather than true sciatica.

Zoladex delay
Hi All, has anyone postponed one of their monthly Zoladex injections by a week? Any issues in that week? My situation is that I have a consultant appointment to review how I’ve got on with Zoladex (and, on the basis of my response, aid the decision making process on how much to do in surgery) booked

Chiropractor or Osteopath
I am currently 10 weeks post op from a TKR and my mobility is good but I am experiencing lower back pain which is different to my usual back pain. I am trying to walk mindfully but am thinking I might need some help but I don't know the difference between a chiropractor and an osteopath. Who could help

Panic and panic attacks
Hi I’ve had panic attacks this year (four full blown ones) and a few attacks that I managed to avoid by taking deep breaths until they passed I never suffered from these before despite suffering with anxiety all my life for which I take Setraline I’m wondering if it is because I am now taking Thyroid

My Efforts to Educate the Scientific Community

The bulk of the article follows: The medical community is generally unaware of the benefit of a low oxalate diet for treatment of RLS. In 2015, after 5 years of closely

perimenopause and heart stuff!
at 49 I’ve finally realised the not sleeping and feeling head fog for the past years is not having a late child (7 now) and a stent (1.5 now), it’s perimenpause as I’m now getting a lot of hot flushes (heat not helping here!). Periods still normal if closer together. But I’ve also being having more

asymptomatic APS?
Hi, I was diagnosed with APS in 2020 prior to a surgery as an incidental finding. I am going in for a hip replacement sooon, and they repeated the tests and confirmed the diagnosis Questions: could I remain asymptomatic? what should I watch for? Help!
