Iron and magnesium levels plus
Hi everyone. I recently had blood tests done as suggested and results have come back showing slightly low magnesium level at 0.68mmol/L and serum ferritin level of 60ng/ml. (Low?) I've been asked to go back for retest on the magnesium but no mention of the iron? Looking back on my test results I had

Newly diagnosed
Hi all, diagnosed 4th May after episode of very rapid heart beats that wouldn't stop. Went to A & E where the diagnosis of AF was made. Stayed in for 5 days while they did CT scan of lungs and ultra sound of leg. Reason for that was that I had no symptom at all until a partial knee replacement 2nd March

Influences of sleep and the circadian rhythm on iron-status indices
I suspect few, if any, of us have ever really thought about iron tests varying by time of day. However much we understand with regard to thyroid, somehow I think most of us imagine iron as being more "bucket chemistry". But this paper might force us to re-assess! [i]

HRT and autoimmune thyroiditis
Am about to be prescribed transdermal oestrogen and progesterone tablets. I am 56 y with much crabbines and fatigue. Have also just discovered that I may have Hashimotot's (see my post). How will HRT affect things? Do I not go ahead with it? Thanks.

I just need to get this out to the universe as I don't want to alarm my family with new symptoms that baffle me. I do have a G.P appointment in 9 days time but I feel in a tiz right now. Upon falling asleep last night I was awakend by a jolt to the right side of my body and a feeling of broken waves

knee surgery
I’ve been put in the waiting list to have a total knee replacement and the waiting list is approx 6 months. I’m on 17.5 mgs of pred. The surgeon has said my healing might be slow because of the pred. Had anyone else had a knee replacement while on a higher dose of pred? I’m a little worried about having

'Interim' GP blood results and trying to draw conclusions
Hello, A GP I saw recently (long story but not same one who gave me increase in Levo) ordered bloods. I have been on 100 mcg of Accord for 4 weeks, so wasn't planning to test for another month. The following were tested, I've included the same NHS results for comparison earlier this year.: NHS

SHBG test through Medichecks?
I'm set with an appointment with a menopause clinic in a couple of weeks for an HRT consult and noticed that their charges for some of the tests were quite a bit higher than Medichecks, and they are running a 20% off sale that ends tonight. I've had my thyroid tests done with them already, so I believe

Treatment after Zoladex/Prostrap
I’m due to go back to the consultant next week and I’m just wondering what your experiences were a) coming off Zoladex/prostrap and b) what treatment options are next. For context I have been on the injections for 11 months now, and HRT for the past 5 months. I know everyone’s experiences have been different

Tired of being tired?
just need encouragement to get out of this downward cycle. I used to be quite active to keep my MS at bay (lots of intensive yoga, exercise at home...). I stopped for hip surgery and have not been able to get back to the workout routine. It has decreased my ability to fight MS fatigue for sure. This

pacemaker and air pods
Does anyone have any experience with Apple Air Pods and their pacemaker. I’m going to have valve replacement surgery and my daughter thought they would be good for me. I was given Bluetooth ear phones before, to use with the TV but couldn’t use them, i kept getting static like noise through them, but

GnRH analogues
Hi all, I am due to be starting injectable GnRH analogues soon alongside a HRT, dose anyone have any advice/ guidance on them and their side effects and management? In the past I have had Nafarelin (Synarel). The plan is to have these before surgery as NHS wait is 50 weeks where I am. Thanks

Really struggled to get on top of pain relief and have ended up in local a&e due to how ill I was feeling, changed meds for last couple of days but feel a little better at this stage. Struggled

Can people with hypothyroidism suffer with sweats and heat intolerance?
Before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on medication, I suffered with dreadful sweating for years; eating hot food or drinks would being it on as would housework and sitting in a stuffy office environment. This would be the type that would soak on hair and clothing. For a long time I thought

back again - people saying I have thyroid issues - I don’t know what to do?
people keep saying my mood etc could be thyroid related and weight gain. here are my trackers of thyroid… I’ll post the rest below this. I don’t know what to do as I think my HRT is doing this. GPs won’t listen. I have no relationship with them at all. What are your thoughts?
