Metformin
I have since found out I have had this for a while, but when doing my
thyroid
function
blood
test
they should have been making adjustments for metformin as it it affects the results. Has anyone else experienced this?

acyclovir and kidney care
I have follicular lymphoma. I’m not interested in taking acyclovir as I was born with only one kidney. I’m wondering if anyone knows of an antiviral that doesn’t harm the renal function that can replace acyclovir? thank you.

Thyroid function rest
The doctors phoned me today and told me that my
thyroid
function
test
is 40 (I cannot remember if he said T3 or T4) and said it should be 17. My thyroid was 4 times over and now it's only 2 times I think but it has come down on its own.

Update
She was quite dismissive of this and said that I needed an NHS one (
thyroid
function
test
) which will be done on Friday. I can sort of understand this as there will be traceablity for comparison of previous tests done at the same lab.

Thyroid tests
I am seeking advice on which
test
to go for. For the advanced
thyroid
function
test
(£86), it recommends to have blood rather than home testing. Has anyone done this test and is it worth paying the extra and go to a clinic to have this done? Are there any other providers you would recommend?

The Differential Diagnosis of Discrepant Thyroid Function Tests: Insistent Pitfalls & Updated Flow-Chart Based on a Long-Standing Experience
We often see members posting results which, at least initially, are odd and maybe make little sense. This paper recognises and discusses such test results. Quite long and takes some effort to read - but worth it if you are interested. [i]

An Eventful January
I like to keep the NHS busy. My January itinerary as its stands, although more can be added yet. Week 1 - Respiratory Chest Consultant, following a CT Scan on 29/12 I had an appt with the Consultant a few days later. As I expected the scan showed that I had a Pleural Effusion/Pneumonia (fluid) in both

So, this is crazy!
Did tests through both the GP and Medichecks (since they had the
Thyroid
function
test
on offer a few weeks back). I have a professional blood draw at a local clinic for the Medichecks test, rather than finger prick at home, to ensure the best outcome.

Grim!
I’d be grateful for sympathy from you kind people! Life is more challenging than usual. No complaints about medical attention: pulmonary function test due this month and a dietitian early January. I have regular consultations, so I’m far better off than many here. I’ve had a few days of feeling off

I've got Covid - any suggestions on when I can do a Thyroid Function Test?
I've got a
test
kit for a standard finger-prick TFT (
Thyroid
Function
Test
) i.e. TSH + Free T4 + Free T3. I want to do it ASAP without Covid interfering too much with the results (or at all, if possible). When would be a good time to do it after recovery?
