Can you tell us what medication you are taking now? I think you were on carbimazole before?

Thanks for responding. I have been off carbimazole since middle of March this year

How are you feeling now?

Free T4 (fT4) 16.9 pmol/L (12 - 22) 49.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.29 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 32.2%

Your results are a little on the low side although your FT3 has risen a bit. I will ignore your TSH as you have recently been hyper.

PurpleNails can advise you about meds.

Right now I'm having an acute anxiety problem that was triggered by an incident.I'm surprised that given the intensity that my ranges are still normal.

These are your previous results a few week before.

Ft4 13.0; (normal range 12.0 to 22.0) 10%

Ft3 3.7 - (normal range 3.1 -6.8) 16.22%

So you can see that they have risen since you stopped taking the Carbimazole.

I think your anxiety is likely related to your low fT3 which can cause awful mental health and physical symptoms.

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels last tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested yet as discussed by Buddy195 in previous post

Hello again

These results look much better this time around as the ' blocking effect ' of the AT drug - Carbimazole has now, probably fully left your body.

Your T3 and T4 have both risen in the ranges and may soon plateau which hopefully sees you with some relative stability and wellness.

Since you had a partial thyroidectomy back in 2003 you may find once you stabilise that your thyroid hormone production is limited and that you will feel improved taking a small dose of thyroid hormone replacement,

The symptoms of ' hyper ' and ' hypo ' often get confused by medics and patients alike -

You must be dosed and monitored on your Free T3 and Free T4 readings and not your TSH as this is a very unreliable measure of anything once the thyroid has received any form of treatment, let alone after surgery.

The AT drug - Carbimazole blocks your own natural metabolising function and when running too slow as in hypo or too fast as in hyper the body struggles to extract key nutrients through food - no matter how well and clean you eat.

So it is very important to keep your core strength vitamins and minerals - those of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D at optimal levels as these alone if not at good levels will compound your health and well being further - do you have these tested and can share some results for forum members to help you with ?

Have you had ever had any thyroid antibodies tested?

Many use private companies to arrange blood test. Put country in profile.  Many members have information based in UK.

You had partial thyroidectomy 2003 but further periods or hyper so you may have Graves.

TSI - Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulin (signifies hyper Graves autoimmune) TRab - TSH receptor antibodies (TRAb) (signifies Graves autoimmune)

TPOab (Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies) underactive

TGab (Thyroglobulin antibodies) underactive

TSH is not reliable keep monitoring FT4 & FT3.  As you may find without your immune system overstimulating your remaining thyroid your levels drop too low.

Doctors likely won’t offer treatment for this until FT4 & FT3 drop below range, especially as TSH can’t be relied on to rise & reflect low thyroid levels.

Important to check folate, ferritin, B12 & vitamin D.
