BC Update with GP.
First I rang Macmillan and they thought it very odd my cancer had gone from high to low. So rang my consultants secretary and she was not there, the people in charge said they were not qualified to help. I saw my GP today and like myself had a letter with no details at the top, this matters because

EYE HEALTH: RELATIONSHIP OF PMR, PRED & MTX TO GLAUCOMA, CATARACTS, & DRY EYE
Hello everyone. Vacillated on a title for this post. I'll bet I covered it all. I've been on my hard PMR journey for 4+ years. Currently on 4mg Pred daily & 20mg MTX weekly. PMR pain is under control. My eyes have wept for the past 2 yrs; at times, non stop. Eyedrops are the common advice from my Optometrist

Thyroid cancer, hot flashes and cold intolerance/shivering?
I haven’t been diagnosed with thyroid cancer but I’ve been unwell for well over a year and my symptoms have got progressively worse. I only just did a post on this few days ago but I wanted to make a new one as I’m curious to see who has had thyroid cancer and found that they had a progressive worsening

Corneal transplant
Hi all. A very happy Christmas to you all. I apologise if this is not an acceptable question on here as it is not related to RA but it is a great platform to air the question. I am desparately worried about my brother who needs a corneal transplant. Has anyone on here had one or knows of anyone who has

Radiation for cancer other than thyroid.
Does radiation treatment for breast cancer affect thyroid medications? Does dose need to be adjusted during or after treatment?

I have had symptoms of a UTI since 31st October. I had Nitrofuration twice at the start of all this and things started to settle until I had a bath. I was then given 7 days of trimethoprim- I felt no real difference with this. Dipstick tests never really show infection so 3 urines have been sent to lab

Elevated Diastolic Blood Pressure & Thyroid?
I’ve read that thyroid issues can increase diastolic blood pressure while systolic remains normal. I’ve been seeing a slight increase / trend with this. Has anyone else seen this and it meant levothyroxine increase needed?

GCA or Dry eye pain
Yesterday was the first day both my eyes hurt. I have been having dry eyes and drops are not doing too much. The pain in both eyes feel like pressure or strain pain. I am worried not knowing if it’s just dry eyes or my GCA acting up. Currently taking 10 mg if prednisone since the last GCA temple pain

Angular Cheilitis?
Just wondering if anyone suffers from Angular Cheilitis with their RA keep getting it and mentioning to the GP but he just ignored it. I've had my B12 checked and it was ok. I've read sulfasalazine can cause it. I'm also on Benepali jab once a week. Ive also read it could be folate levels but I think

Next instalment
Before I start my next task, either proofreading or, dread the thought, cleaning the car, here`s the next instalment. Chris. One of mum's best friends from childhood was, without a doubt, Lydia, a confident who in later life became Aunty Lyds to all of us. Their friendship through their teenage years

Possible relapse, trouble seeing Rheumatologist.
Hi, I have not posted in quite some time. Read other's mostly, and since I have been in remission for 7-8 years I have not had much I could add to conversation. I was diagnosed with GPA in 2015. Put on pred and mycophenolate initially, then two rounds of rituximab. I have been med free since 2016

Parathyroid test is high
I've recently had a blood test (yearly bloods) to check my thyroid levels as I have an under active thyroid. My doctor also did my Parathyroid which has shown up as high and he's referred me to an endocrinologist. Does anyone know what this means?

Bleeding 3 weeks on desogesterel
I have been taking Desogesterel since March and at first it was fine, I still had a monthly bleed on it which was not painful. In July I discussed future conception with a GP who told me that i would be fine coming off the pill and ignored my endo diagnosis because i had it done privately.. I came off

Interesting article about effects of medication on thyroid function in dogs. However, many human studies are referenced too.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10473007/ Although this 2023 paper is about how medications affect thyroid function in dogs, I found much of relevance to humans given within the text body, with good references. I found it an interesting read and the first diagram particularly illuminating
