Hi all, I have Proctitis and IBS.My IBS has severely flared up this week,I have not been for a poo for 5 days. ive been experiencing really bad urgency but only the size of my little finger watery poo comes out and causing pain in my bum.

Im on Biscopyl and Pentasa suppositories for inflammation.

Can anyone please recommend anything if experienced this before.

Sorry to hear you’re suffering. It sounds like overflow d. caused by an impaction, meaning that it’s only the very watery poo which gets past the blockage. I have had this & I had to take large doses of laxatives to sort me out. I have diverticulosis, so I need to avoid constipation whatever.

Hope you ‘go’ or have ‘gone’ properly since posting.

Good luck 🤞

Hi, Thanks, I did go after buckets of alcohol but was still suffering 2 days, I am now full of wind, but no urgency or water...see how it goes. Luckily seeing my doc on Friday.

I can relate, mine started like yours with very little output and severe rectal pain, I’m currently using Proctosedyl suppositories for inflammation but am not getting any real relief yet. I’m also using Rectogesic for a fissure that’s causing me nightmares.

Aww hope you get sorted soon and the nightmares stop. Awful

Have you tried milk of magnesia? It’s a powerful osmotic laxative if I have ever been clogged up after surgery etc I take a capful at bedtime and wake up with the toilet it’s never failed me. You might need a higher dose but the instructions are on the bottle. Good luck

No but will discuss with my doctor on Friday, I had never heard of anyone taking it for this before.

It’s written on the bottle how to use it as a laxative, if you do a search on this website for milk of magnesia it will probably come up with more examples but it’s best to discuss with your doctor first if you have other medical issues. Good luck

Sounds like impaction. Herbal laxatives (fybogel etc) will make it worse. Awful thing I know. When I had it as an inpatient in hospital, enema sorted it . When at home, Milk of Magnesia did the trick. You need to get it sorted asap. Suggest A&E or walk in clinic or you could try M of Mag but that takes overnight to work. Do hope you soon get relief.
