Low-T is associated with worse Prostate Cancer Specific Mortality probability after 6 months of ADT: Part III
The median
testosterone
for the Low-T group is T = 162 ng/dL [120-236], and I assumed an average value of 500 ng/dL for the Normal group. The cohort is: Unfavorable Risk after RT and 6 months of ADT.

My own PSA values over time: 70% drop in just 3 months on Dutasteride and no ADT
After learning that prostate cancer cells only respond to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and
not
to
testosterone
directly (DHT is made from
testosterone
), I decided to go on Dutasteride on 12/1/23.

Recovery of Testosterone
In two months post Lupron my
testosterone
is now in the low end of normal and my PSA is <0.01. My baseline
testosterone
was 694. I attribute this good news once to my resistance and aerobic training.

I've come to understand that doctors use ADT to remove
testosterone
since they believe the cancer feeds on it. So after surgery and ADT, with
testosterone
at a bottom level, what then do the cancer cells feed on to cause yet another recurrence?

PSA reduction after Estrogen Patch Therapy
The total time is 3 months, after which the PSA and
testosterone
both flatten out versus time. I've also added the reference and cohort (1 patient). Sorry about that... Bob

Should the dose of Dutasteride be increased?
Since DHT is the actual molecule that "feeds" prostate cancer growth (not
testosterone
), it follows that reducing DHT as low as possible is as important as reducing
testosterone
as low as possible when doing chemical castration (ADT).

Testosterone issue.
Getting my
testosterone
count so low is celebrated with MO. Not so much with PCP. By the way PSA is on the rising even though
Testosterone
is at it's lower.

Testosterone and adrenal glands
Is it possible that my adrenal glands are still producing
testosterone
? And would this not show up in a standard
testosterone
test? I have had 10 rounds of chemo, and upon completion my PSA dropped down and then bounce back up a month later.

Still confused about PSA and Testosterone testing
Am I missing something in the relationship between PSA and
testosterone
levels? Thanks.

Erectile dysfunction meds and side effects
Good news is that his PSA has gone to 2 and
Testosterone
to 9 after a month on Firmagon so meds seem to be doing what are supposed to. Drs have prescribed Cialis and Viagra for ED. So far he doesn’t have it but I’m sure he will after the radiation and continuation of the meds.

Personal update
Ok, first blood work, 3 weeks after the last chemo of ARASENS protocol PSA is 0.39, it was 70 at diagnosis and 15 after 4-5 weeks (when I have started ARASENS)
Testosterone
0.33 nmol/L well, that's it!

How long does ADT affect mood swings and anger after stopping treatment ?
I assumed after the last shot it would be ok but maybe it’s dependent on
testosterone
levels getting back to normal .. am I alone or unusual ?

Addison's disease
One question I forgot to ask was are the adrenals incapable of producing
testosterone
as well? I will ask to be sure. EDIT: I asked and the
testosterone
is not affected by Addison's. One more wonderful thing. I have elevated AST. Like 188.
