MO ordered CT Abdomen/pelvis after having a couple blood clots in urine, no blood, about 4 mths ago with several quick sharp pains in bladder area daily since about that time (may be from straining to empty bladder when urinate or kegels). CT no issues noted other than the 8mm sclerotic focus in T12 vertebrae. Had RP 2/2019 and IMRT surgical bed and pelvic lymph nodes 6/2022 (see bio). PSA 0.006 and testosterone 200 at 4/18/24. MO wants me to order cystoscopy with urologists, but may see re straining at night when get up to go, not sure about cystoscopy yet though. Any recommendations given low psa? Thank you.

Your MO is most likely concerned about a bladder tumor, hence the need for a cystoscopy. Good idea to go ahead and get it done.

Thanks for your reply RoseDoc. MO did give urine analysis which showed no carcinoma but if cystoscopy is determined safe after my radiation treatments then I agree with you it would be best. I'll also have followup CT on 8mm 12T in relatively near future. Thanks again for input.

It is safe after receiving radiation. You could have a radiation cyctitis which can cause bleeding, especially with any straining. The cystoscopy is a fairly benign procedure and wil answer many of the questions.

I would definitely recommend a cystoscopy. I was experiencing some incontinence issues and straining when urinating. A cystoscopy in my urologist’s office showed that I had a urethral stricture, which is not uncommon after radiation therapy.

Whether you issues are in the bladder or the urethra, a cystoscopy is a simple, relatively painless way to help diagnose the problem

Thanks for sharing your positive experience duke69. I've had a couple cystoscopies in my life but was concerned after RP and radiation. I'm feeling better about it now thanks to the input I'm getting. Thank you.

to jjpeabody,

Many guys cringe at the thought of having a cystoscope up their willy... I've had several of them and trust me, it's a walk in the park (figurately not literally).....

p.s. maybe change your UserID to jjpeebody.
