Enzalutamide Plus 5-Alpha Reductase Inhibitors for Castrate-Sensitive Prostate Cancer
Phase II trial exploring the combination of enzalutamide with five alpha-reductase inhibitors (ARIs) for castrate-sensitive prostate cancer. Driven by observations from geriatric oncology, the study seeks alternatives to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for older, frail men who struggle with its side

I'll try keep this short as possible, I had 5 sessions of radio therapy in June 2023, after 1 month my urinating was giving me problems, the oncologist forwarded to my gp to prescribe 400mg, but after only 2 weeks ago I asked my gp about tamsulosin I never received, she looked it up, apologised to me

Radiation Starts, Bye Bye Urethra?
D-Day arrives August 6th for IG/IMRT. Two very kind and empathetic technicians attend to my placement on the treatment bed. Lasers aligned, they leave the room and this giant green machine (which I had not previously met) begins whirring and gyrating about my torso with beeps and clunks. I sense that

Does taking Tamsulosin plus Dutaseride for BPH mask true PSA numbers ?
Before I got diagnosed with PCa , I was taking Tamsulosin plus Dutaseride for many years to control symptoms of BPH. My question is does taking them for many years show a false lower psa number than it actually would be ?

Worsening RLS
As of late, I have been having swollen feet and ankles when sitting too long or working in the yard too long. For the past three nights, I've had bad RLS that keeps me up all night. I am taking 7 meds: Omeprazole, Htcz/losartan, Amlodipine, Tamsulosin, Pramipexole, Atorvastatin, and Finasteride. Almost

Dutasteride (5-ARI) extends time to disease progression in Low-Risk men on Active Surveillance, compared to Placebo
This study by Finelli et al. (2010) looks at the effect of Dutasteride (5-ARI) on the rate of prostate cancer disease progression in Low-Risk men on Active Surveillance. The use of a 5-ARI was associated with a significantly lower rate of pathologic disease progression and lower rate of abandonment

Signifficant PSA LEVELS
I'm an 81 year old man who has had an enlarged prostate for several months. PSA tests levels 9.1 and 8.1 (several months apart). My Father died of prostate cancer, which had spread to other parts of his body. Follwing a Digital Anal test, my prostate was reported as "smoothly enlarged and sulcus palpable

Azarga tiredness
Just had my first drop of Azarga this morning. It took two hours before tiredness/dryness in the eyes lifted. Fortunately, l'm retired and had no need to drive. Is this normal? Also, can you take tamsulosin with Azarga? Thanks for the help.

Reference Library of Papers about Dutasteride for Treating Prostate Cancer
Here is a library of 20 papers about using Dutasteride to treat prostate cancer. In one study, Dutasteride monotherapy reduces PSA by 50%, reduces prostate volume by 25%, and reduces tumor volume by 30%, after 6 months of treatment, compared to placebo (Moore, 2017). https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Why don't doctors prescribe Dutasteride more often?
I get this question from a lot of men that have prostate cancer. Although the black label warning is a concern to some doctors, and has been discussed here in previous posts, I think the main reason is simply that most doctors don't know about it. Here is the single best paper reviewing the three major

Tamsulosin
I’ve been on Tamsulosin since diagnosis. Now have unconnected (I think) issues with fluid build up in my lungs and consequential breathing issues. Now on frusemide but wondering if stopping Tamsulosin is possible. I don’t want to be taking anything more than I need.

Doxazosin: anybody experience of postural hypotension?
Over the last 4 years I have had Long Covid, the most obvious symptoms being increased BP and HR, and breathlessness, and I was put on 6 different Hypertensive drugs, remaining on 5 simultaneously for over two years. Symptoms persisted including dizziness and fainting, and I had the usual ecgs, chest

New to Prostate issues. What are my options?
I’m 63 years old, in general good health. I’ve been experiencing symptoms for maybe 5 years, gradually getting worse. - Waking in the night to pee, 2 to 3 times. - Hesitance - Weak stream, stop start.. Thankfully no blood or pain. So I finally went to the GP & had an examination 😳, GP said
